Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ive gone to install the correct 15 pin mirror however when installed the mirror motors dont work.
Leading evidence: 'Install mirror motors dont work' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install mirror motors dont work' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I suspect its because the motor wires have been swapped around by the tech.

Otherwise, you might consider replacing the door wiring harness.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 996 4S mirror assembly was clipped. The mirror was replaced with a 6 pin version and it never worked. Tech tried swapping the pins around and nothing.
Ive gone to install the correct 15 pin mirror however when installed the mirror motors dont work. I suspect its because the motor wires have been swapped around by the tech.
my question: how do I remove these pins so I can swap them back?
How to remove the pins?
Are the mirror motor wires yellow and green. The numbers are 2 and 3.
Thanks for the tips
Remove the red cover with a pick and u will be able to see the pins. I am not familure with that plug so il not sure which pin removal tool u will need. There r universal kits on amazon.
A Bentley Manual will have the full wire pin out for your car or u will have to dig through the internet to find a schematic. Ill try to remember to look this evening
I have this.

I bought a set of swappable lens magnifing glasses from amazon that go 10-50x. U have to get right up on the plug but they really allow u to see the tabs. Can u pull the red cover and take a pic? Maybe someone can id the pin style.
Those pins in the first photo look rough - look at pins 1, 6, 10, 11, etc. They look crushed. You'll not only need to make sure the pins/wires are where they need to be but that they provide connectivity through the connection. Unfortunately this is the door side harness if this doesn't work, you'll likely need to source a new door wiring harness (from a car with memory seats.)
That said, this plug is tricky. Have you ohm'ed all of the wires out? Do you know which pins/wires need to be moved? Do you have the wiring schematic?
Once you've confirmed what needs to be moved (if any) the procedure I've used to make changes are:
1) Pull/work the pink rubber seal down the wires as far as possible - this makes it easier to work with the wires.
2) From the back side of the white connector, use a small flat blade screw driver to push the red connector face out. Pick a couple of empty holes to push the screw driver through (it will need to be a very small driver.) The red face/connector will pop off leaving all of the wires/pins in the white connector base.
3) Look down into the white connector base. You'll see how the holes for the pins/wires have little retaining flaps. You'll need to spread those to pull the wires out. Pull all of the wires out. I would also use this step to examine the connectors to see if they are in good enough condition.
4. Put/push the red connector face back into the white base.
5) Re-align the wires through the pink rubber seal. The wires need to line up with the proper holes in the white connector. There is no room in the white base for criss-crossing the wires.
6) Reinsert the pins into the proper holes in the white base insure that they are fully inserted and locked into place.
7) Push the pink rubber seal back into place in the white connector base.
8)Test - ohm out the wires. Make sure they don't push back into the connector base.
I hope the connector & pins are in good enough condition to pull this off. Otherwise, you might consider replacing the door wiring harness.
