I did not see the accident happen, but the track was closed for a hour to clean the oil and/or coolant.

During a track Day at the Dubai Autodrome (in United Arab Emirates), I was running in group A, I was driving BMW E36 M3 3.2 321hp (my 997 is back in the States) , and this GT3 was running Group B.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I did not see the accident happen, but the track was closed for a hour to clean the oil and/or coolant. I talked to the owner (50 year old french guy). He said he went off the track and hit the barrier
. Surprising he was very cool about it. He olso runs an Orange 997 GT3 RS
NOTE: NO ONE was hurt. Driver and Passenger window are broken inside the vehicle, they are not rolled down. If you look close enough (not clear in the pictures) the rear quarter panel and the roof show signs of crumpling.
How much "out-of-pocket" you think the guy will have? Anyone?
This is exactly the reason I am totally reluctant to "track" my car....but GOD, I'd love to!!!
Some of the guys standing around said similar comments:
"...I want to ask him if he would sell me the motor for $500".
"...., I bet you will find the car on eBay, sometime soon...."
I wanted his seats myself
What an ugly site.....sounds like the owner will "bounce" back fast. I was at the Glen a few years back when I saw the leftovers of a 996 TT X50 with another 50K into it get wrecked. The owner went off the track after the "esses" and ping ponged off the walls. Had a student with him too....no one injured, but boy....that was some car. I think he did the same thing again less than a year later with a similar newer car. Don't think he returned after that. Anyone know who I'm talking about???
