Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Following my tale of Porsche-related idiocy , I now need to vent about another brain failure: Having tripped the dreaded airbag warning while installing my GT3 seats for the Silver State, I finally got around to visiting GMG last week to reset the light and get an oil change (good work, beautiful race cars, terrifying bill). Then, while finishing a house move on Sunday (cue ominous music), I put a couple of fold up chairs in the back of the 996 which I could slot through the rollbar (can you see where this is going?). This morning, the bloody airbag light went off again, and a quick investigation amid the cursing reveals that I snagged the passenger seatbelt connection with the stupid chairs. I think I'll just buy a reset gadget now - I'm clearly cursed (or stupid). Thankyou for this opportunity for therapeutic venting.

POST 2Original post

Damn that sucks. BTW...what class do you run in at the SS?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ran the 120mph class in May, but I'm ordering a driving suit so I can step up to 135mph in September.

POST 4Original post

I would think if something this small is setting off your airbag warning you have biger problems than restting the sensor.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wasn't being very clear: the cable was snagged, which pulled the duct-taped connector out. There are clearly a number of lessons for me to learn here, starting with the durability of duct-tape-based connections...

POST 6Original post

I see. COntrary to poular belief duct tape cannot fix everything ;-)

POST 7Original post

Nice...I have my Mustang setup for high speeds, although it has some shiny parts on it, and I was thinking of going into a 150mph class with it eventually. Yoru thoughts

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There are certainly plenty of Mustangs there, probably second only to Corvettes in number. I'm not an expert, but I've heard people say that the thin air makes certain Mustangs marginal for cooling unless the radiators are uprated along with the engines. If you have some form of forced induction, that's perfect for reducing the power loss at 6000 feet. FWIW, the 996 is rock solid at the speeds I've achieved so far. I'm getting M030 suspension fitted tomorrow which will help to lock down the front end above 150.

POST 9Original post

Oh my Mustang is setup with a Paxton NOVI 2000 S/C with a 12lb pulley (cog belt setup) on a 351W. Estimated is 640rwhp so I hope that is enough. Here's a link to the build of it: Mustang . We also estimate top speed in the 190's so the 150 class should be prefect. Thanks for the input.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

150 should be a breeze. Beautiful car! With a fuel cell and fire system, you could move up to 160 or 170, I think.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It came as a surprise to me, too

POST 12Original post

those seats look great with the exterior. how close do the blues match in person?

POST 13Original post

YO Simon: If you are ever in Santa Monica let me know and I will reset your airbag light. I have a Durametric reader.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi MC_Renn I've just moved to Venice, so if I can buy you breakfast one weekend in return for a reset, let me know! Thanks!

POST 15Original post

Hey Simon: No worries! I'll be around all this weekend so let me know when you want to drop by. I'll PM you my phone/email.

POST 16Original post

I can feel a sequel coming on! Working title - Revenge of the Seats

POST 17Original post

Simon - hang on to those chairs ,will ya? The next time you feel like doing something stupid, call me and I'll fly over there and sit in one of the chairs and watch. Hell, I'll even shoot a video!

POST 18Original post

The Blues look close but the Sparco seats are lighter, but it is not such a difference that sticks out when you look at it. Thanks for taking a look at 'The Speed Demon' project
