Disconnect the battery and wait about 30 minutes to make sure all electrical charge is out of the system completely (better safe than sorry) and then you can either remove the airbag or just loosen it since it is the same procedure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello folks. Something got loosen yesturday in my steering wheel, so everytime I turn something move from one to the other side. I wanted to open the horn cover, I was afraid of the airbag, if I disconnect the battery, am I safe to go? And does anyone know what could loosen up in there? Regards // Norbert

POST 2Original post

Very simple Norbert. Disconnect the battery and wait about 30 minutes to make sure all electrical charge is out of the system completely (better safe than sorry) and then you can either remove the airbag or just loosen it since it is the same procedure. There are 3 torx screws that hold the airbag to the wheel. They are located on the backside of the wheel and you will either be able to feel the 3 holes that you get to them through (if missing the plugs) or they may be covered by small plugs that you remove.

peeking in from time to time. I have given myself a self-imposed ban from coming over here for anything othere than giving tech advice that hasn't been given to somebody by another member.

POST 7Original post

... as Dell explained. Try to turn on the radio after the battery was disconnected for a while; if it's dead, then you should be safe. BTW (not trying to be nitpicker here); I recall that there are only 2 torx screws on the back side of the 4 spoke- as well as on the 3 spoke steeering wheel.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
