but i'd spring for the clears and new wheels-- that alone will dramatically change the appearance.

I did keep the Recaro SRD's from the 951 so they might make it into the 996, but we'll see if that happens as I hate to replace leather with cloth.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all, I have just gotten my newly purchased '99 C2 from the shipper. The car is originally from New York and I had it shipped to California. A good friend of mine had to move and could not take the car with him. After getting the highest offer from the local dealers he called me and asked if I wanted it for what the dealer had offered. As you guessed I said yes. The car is a '99 C2 with 40K on the clock. It still has one year left on the Porsche CPO warranty...and unfortunately has only two options...full leather and Hi-Fi sound. I'm currently looking for 18" rims, litronic headlights, and the later smoked tails. Oh it also has a K40 radar system. Now I just have to sell my 951.
951sickness - Cangrats and welcome! Nice looking ride, nice introduction AND nice pic!
(Mumbles to self: Maybe, just maybe, the Newbies are starting to get the "Pic" thing! If so, that will make my job a lot easier!)
Nice ride - man I hope he was kidding about the bridge . . .
goodhands - I have that poster hanging in my garage now. It is a classic. It was in my bedroom as a kid, but the wife said it did not really fit the decor of the house so it had to go in the garage. Too funny that you use it for your avatar.
Litronics conversion will cost you way too much money and you can find a full set of wheels inexpensively on Ebay; same for the tail lights. Might want to also change out the orange side markers to either clear or smoked ($20).
Nice car- the great thing with these cars are all you do is have to have one and you can pretty much mold it to what you want. Look foward to seeing your finished product!
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement although I don't know if I will relay on the forum for any help identifying bridges. I have quickly searched on the web and it seems the taillights are a bit pricey...is list really over $400 each? If so that will be a hard sell to justify to the wife. At least with the litronic I can chalk it up to safety.
I skipped the litronics and went for Blue replacement bulbs. They don't produce the yellow color of ordinary bulbs and they compliment the car. As for smoke taillights, they are posted on Ebay normally once a week...not sure of the cost.

nice car! congrats.
yea, i'd forgo the litronics. I don't have it on mine and i thought i'd really miss it, but don't even notice the difference now-- plus mucho dinero. but i'd spring for the clears and new wheels-- that alone will dramatically change the appearance. you can probably sell your 17's to someone out east who needs committed snow wheels. otw, OEM 02 Carrera 5-spokes are light and look great, imho.
I bought my Silverstars (before the Ultras were available) from Pep Boys. They cost $40 per pair. You'll need two pairs if you replace all your main bulbs.
I was asking $13.8K for it but I have pretty much decided to keep the Recaro SRD's for the 996....so $13K Am I the ony one that finds the 996 seats uncomfortable?
Sweet ride, thanks for the introduction. I've had my 99 for almost a year now and am really happy with it. I just bought a new set of rims and tires for my car, so I have a set of 18" Technology Turbos with Potenza SO2As for sale. Let me know if you are interested.
I'm also in the Bay Area.
Norbert
I find them uncomfortable on long rides because of the design of the lower part of the seat. Your knees are higher then your rump, which is great for spirited drives but it plays hell with my lower back after an hour or so.
I usually sit on a small piece of memory foam to even out the bottom of the seat for long drives. Fortunately it's my only complaint.
Enjoy the 996!

Yes I thought I would never sell my 951, but I watched it being driven away last week by it's new owner. The madness has begun as the 17" rims have given way to MY02 18's. I did keep the Recaro SRD's from the 951 so they might make it into the 996, but we'll see if that happens as I hate to replace leather with cloth.
