Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a drilled airbox cover on the street and a cut away airbox cover on the track.

It would be interesting to know how many 996 owners change their Air intake?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
It would be interesting to know how many 996 owners change their Air intake?
The Evo air intake is refered to both Evo & K&N intake systems as in pic:
Thank you for your time.
I will enjoy seeing the results of this poll. When I had a 993, there was a factory motor sound option that included a stainless lip on the intake, lots of holes in the side of the airbox, and different exhaust tips. A popular mod was to drill (or even cut away a large portion of) the airbox cover. I doubt it made more power, but under WOT it made an intense sucking sound that reminded me of a jet engine. I was thinking of posting here to see if anyone had "hacked" the 996 airbox to generate the same effect as the factory "motor sound option" available on the 993.
I used a drilled airbox cover on the street and a cut away airbox cover on the track. Both had an audible change. I'd be interested to hear whether the K&N system of the Evo system have a similar aesthetic benefit -- regardless of any claimed performance benefit. Thanks -- Jack
The K&N CAI is cheeper than the EVO system; however, it can blow your MAF especially if you have a pre-facelift car and then you have the same money spent. Do a search and you'll find lots of cons and some pros for the K&N. I have one (and it did blow my MAF) but if I'd do it again, I'd rather go for the EVO or just leave the OEM box in there.
There's one annoying thing that comes with the K&N CAI, there are short but noticeable power interruptions at RPM >5k.
