Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My bumper cover was removed/replaced after I had an accident. It seems to have more of a gap between the hood and the bumper cover than should be there. also there is more of a gap between the bumper cover and headlight and bumper cover and fedner (on the side by the side light). Anyone know how this could have gotten fouled up? I keep thinking perhaps they "hung" it below something when it should have been over/above something, but I don't know enough about the fitment of the cover. One thing I noticed, is if I look at the side marker, and I look at the gap between the top of the side marker light and the fender, I can see the top ledge of the side marker housing in this gap. Does the top of the side marker housing sit under the fender, or does the fender lip go over the top ledge of the side marker housing..........just a theory of mine that maybe they screwed that up. i can post some pics on this in the next few days. Any help is greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Its really not that big of a deal. My bet is they didn't tighten it down enough. It is real easy to do. It happens to me when I remove it for a radiator cleanings. After a few weeks or months I happen to notice that my bumper gaps are wider. I'd take it back and have them realign the bumper. It should take 20 min tops

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, it seems more pronounced on the drivers side than the passenger side. I would do it myself if I knew more about how to get it done. The thing is, I thought on the side of the car, the only place securing the bumper that would have to do with its vertical adjustment would be the side marker box, and thats pretty tight.

POST 4Original post

Signal, also make sure they used an oem piece and not an after market. If its oem then its just a matter of getting the bumper re-aligned.

POST 5Original post

I would recommend you pull the bumper cover (takes less than 30 minutes with rhino ramps). I suspect they didn't install it in the proper groove below the trunk lid. If they put it over the groove, it won't line up right. This can be done as a 1-man job. I made this mistake when I removed my bumper cover to clean my radiators for the first time. To line up the bumper cover, start from the inside and work out. Install it on the top groove first, then the sides, line up the radiator scoops and finally the bottom. If you are having any additional problems getting it to line up, you may to remove the headlights which will make it easier to line up the sides.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tip! One of the difficult parts is removing those damn expansion rivets on the lip and stuff, I find some can be hard to get out, any tips on that? I should probably go buy a dozen in case any get hosed. Brian

POST 7Original post

Just use a long flat head. As you start to loosen them, pull the opposite side with your finger or use a pair of needle nose pliers. They really aren't very hard to get out, they are just hard to get started. It also helps if you remove the front piece of the fender liners on both side first.
