Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am running PS2's with 235/40 18 (front) and 295/30 18 (rear).
Leading evidence: 'Run ps2's' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend width' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I know a 295 uses a 10-11" wide rim on most brands, 10.5" is usually the recommended width.

Suggestion
If you want to run the 285 or even the 295 I would suggest getting 8" fronts and running the 235.

Suggestion
as Paul noted, you would be BETTER off running the 265 rears with the 225 fronts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Currently running 225/40 18 (front) 285/30 18 (rear) Pirelli PZeros on my 99 C4 Cab and looking to go with PS2s...
I notice there are 235/40 18 (front) and 295/30 18 (rear) sizes available. Is anyone running this combination...any recommendations?
Tim,
Are those size tires fit my OEM "Sport Design" wheels? I was thinking 285/30/18 but 295/30/18 rears are better, not sure if I will have rubbing issue. Right now I also have 14mm spacers in rears. Thanks,
Bao - what width and offsets are your Sport Design wheels? The width and offset should be stamped on either side of the valve stem. I seem to recall (and I could be wrong) that the Sport Design front wheel width is 7.5 inches wide. If that is the case, the 235/40 tires will NOT fit on your front wheels.
Give me the width and offsets of both the front and rear and I can answer your question.
Not so much a sizing reply, but I had issues with two of my PS2s new from factory being so off balance that no amount of balancing got them balanced. The tires were hopping.
Check out BS RE050A PPs as well. I have more faith in Made in Japan than Made in France along this front.
Tim,
I have OEM wheels and offset, can't remember exactly and I'm out of town now. But front is indeed 7.5 wide (57??) and rear is 10 (65??). I currently have 225 front and 265 rear, OEM size again, but would like to go wider in rear. Thanks Tim...
-Bao.
I have the OEM 18" Turbo Twist wheels one my car. Fronts are 8" wide with 50mm offset. THe rears are 10" wide 65mm offsets. I have 235/40/18 front and 295/30/18 rear PS2's.
On your current wheels, 225/40/18 is as wide as you can go on the front wheels if, in fact, they are 7.5" wide. The 295/30/18 would work on your rear wheels. However, you should also keep in mind that going with a wider rear tire and keeping the front tire at the current width will increase your understeer some.
Hope this helps!
I would suggest going with 265/35/18 on the rears. I used to run 285/30/18 as well, and when I switched to the 265 the car drove a LOT better. The shift points became much improved to me. I am pretty sure that the '99 model year had the 265 width as stock, and the transmission was tailored to that overall diameter. It's worth considering.
as Paul noted, you would be BETTER off running the 265 rears with the 225 fronts. A great combo for the 7.5"/10" rim combo is the 225/265 combo. If you want to run the 285 or even the 295 I would suggest getting 8" fronts and running the 235.
Find your rim widths and use Tire Rack as a guide, the tire specs are given once you click on them.
I know a 295 uses a 10-11" wide rim on most brands, 10.5" is usually the recommended width.
