Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The Mintex I used were pretty thick, not sure of exact thickness but they do not grip like the factories.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last week I bought a new pair of Mintex brake pads for my 996(the standard Mintex pads from Pelican Parts). When I inspected them I was surprised to find that the new pads only have 11mm of new pad material. I recall reading somewhere in the past that when new the pads have 15mm of material. Does anyone know if this is correct? Do only new genuine Porsche pads have the 15mm of material? If that is the case I probably would have bought the genuine pads even though the Mintex are supposed to produce less dust.

POST 2Original post

The Mintex I used were pretty thick, not sure of exact thickness but they do not grip like the factories. And yes, they produce probably 25% of the dust the factory ones produce but have about 80% of the grip or pedal effort. I am sure they will outlive the factory ones (even if thinner) since they are a "harder" composition.

POST 3Original post

New front pads have 12 mm and new rear pads get 10.5 mm.
