Just put a coat of Rejex on the car.....looks a bit shinier, but certainly is much smoother when you run your hand down the car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
Geez....took forever for my car to arrive. It is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I couldn't be happier.
As some of you have been following....I bought this car from Naples Porsche and had it shipped to me in NY.
It has 35K on the clock....options are backup assist...full supple leather, Advanced Technic, Painted console (one of my faves), colored center crests for the wheels, alum. brake lever and shifter, black mats.
I Paid 42.5K
THIS CAR IS CERTIFIED. I have attached a picture of the certificate.
There was a disclosure that the car had some paintwork on the driver's side. One of our members pm'd me and advised me he looked at the car when it was for sale privately, but passed. He was kind enough to forward me the PPI he had done on the car....all in all....no issues but for the paintwork and a vibrating tailpipe, which must have been taken care of as this car sounds just incredible. I have a lift at home, first thing I did was put it up. THERE ARE ZERO ISSUES. Car is as clean as can be for it's age. Everything looks in order. Better yet, I cannot tell that any paintwork occurred, so I am happy as a pig in ****.
So, I watch it come off the truck and really start getting super excited, as if I wasn't already. Funny.....the *** looked soooo big when it was in the truck.
After unloading it....I fire it up and head back to court.....the LONGGGG way. I had it up to 120 within 10 minutes....just wanted to make sure there was no issues with the tracking. Geez....this car drives as strait as an arrow. Seriously...let go of the wheel at 100 and it tracked perfectly. No shimmy or vibrations at high speeds whatsoever.
I F'N LOVE THIS CAR. IT IS RIDICULOUS. No door dings.....a small scatch on the rear ....that's it. I don't care. For what I paid....I feel like I stole it. Did I mention I love this car?
People say that you don't get that feeling with this car like you do when you see your air cooled sitting in the garage. That is now a myth. I love both my cars, but this new addition really gets my blood flowing......wifey loves it too.
Interior is just like new....the leather smells fantastic. No exaggerations there. THIS CAR IS SPOTLESS. If it had some work done....I simply don't care.
My pix are not the greatest as I took them just before sunset, and on a low pix. setting so I can fit a load of them, but I know I'll get decaptitated if I don't post them.....so....here ya go.
I promised my dealer I would give him a shout out if all fared well.....which it did. I couldn't be happier.
KUDOS TO KEN LUCAS AT NAPLES PORSCHE!!!.
He was incredible throughout the process. Made this transaction incredibly simple. Returned each and every one of my phone calls if he didn't pick up himself. I strongly encourage anyone shopping for any Porsche to contact him....he's fantastic. His direct line is [phone removed]. He is very reasonable and is easy to work with and I think he can locate any car you desire.
P.S. Clear side markers being installed tonight.....so no flaming on the pumpkins! I learn fast here.
Best,
Jon
No, you need either the x73, or the RoW -20mm kit, both replace shocks and struts. Stock is a little lame. x73 really wakes it up, transforms the whole car.
Congrats btw, I miss mine already!
$42K is insane. I paid $52K for an '02 with 29K miles back in April, but then it did have quite a few more goodies than yours.
All in all, I ended up spending $69K total to get my car setup the way I needed it to be ASAP.
Enjoy, dude. That rear end in gray looks siq. C4S is the best looking 996 after the GT2.
Good for you!! Absolutely the best deal anyone has ever gotten on a clean CPO'd '02. So glad everything is "right".
Gorgeous car!!
Bumperplugs (You're welcome, Eric) and lose the tape deck/cartridge holders
Hi all,
Thanks so much for the comments and input. I wasn't going to get bumper plugs...in NY, it's illegal to run without a front plate.....but, I can't imagine sticking a plate on the front and messing with the front lines. So...with that...Eric, another order is in order (haha). I know enough cops....and if I have to pay a small fine every blue moon.....I'll suck it up. Cops love when you are polite and a bit nuts at the same time. I got stopped in my '85 recently b/c I still have Liberty plates....they were phased out YEARS ago. I know I wasn't speeding....cop says....where are your new plates? I answered, "DMV has messed them up a few times....(vanity), and besides...even when I get them, I'm not sure I want to swap them out....I giggled. Got a chuckle, a few minutes later after talking about the car, he said have a nice day. Kinda cool. If I had a bad attitude....of course the result would most likely be different.
Livefree....is my cap really upside down? Not funny....lol
ArrOgant, thanks so much for your comments. I know you were concerned with the price....frankly I was too. I was in the market for a regular C2 and stumbled upon that car. When I saw the original price, I figured, what the hell......I'll just offer them my cap on what I wanted to spend on a cherry C2. And whattayaknow.....they accepted it. After back and forth of course. I really didn't want to budge. So, for me...this is my dream car, at least for the next few years. This will be a daily....so witht he price and CPO...it's fantastic.
I'll post my invoice just to really show you all I'm not b.s.'ing. I'm not sure how it all happened. The only reasoning can be the fact that the car had work done (nothing significant enough to prevent the CPO though) and I think the dealer didn't give too much for the trade? Who knows...it's behind me now.
I went a bit overboard today....on a strait.....hit north of 140.....just for a millisecond....it's gets up there so darn fast. Not a normal car, no shaking...nada....it's actually scary that the car can get up that fast. It took me a longggggg time for my '85 to get near that. (No traffic of course.....). I won't be doing that again anytime soon.....just had to break her in after her NY arrival.
As far as the Chrome C and Red "s"...I've seen a couple different things going on. I know Eric sells an "S", but what about the 4? Also, I saw someone here get a red "s" from ebay for like 25 bucks. Any suggestions appreciated. Maybe a group buy from Eric is in order???
Thanks all for your support and guidance during my purchase.
Oh yeah....special thanks to Harold (User name hwk72)
. He sent me the CD holder for free to swap out my cassette holder with. Didn't even let me pay shipping. I'm going to start a separate thread.....calling it the Rennlist Pay-It-Forward thread...I'm simply going to ask if anyone wants my cassette holder (who knows....maybe someone out there does?..haha). I will send to anyone who chimes in first, preferably a newbie. Condition will be that you really need it, and if it shows up on ebay....you will be banned here....at least in my eyes...not that I'm a mod or anything. I hope that doesn't seem too corny.....just that Harold made a 996 newbie feel right at home here....so I figure I'll do the same.
Thanks again all.
J
Beautiful car and you sure got a killer price. I think this is the beast deal I've ever seen, congratulations!
I like your idea of a Pay-It-Forward thread. This forum is the greatest. I got a set of "new" mufflers for free from another Rennlister just a month or so ago. This forum is full of great people!
Welcome and enjoy your new car!
The car and price are truly sweet. The lousy part of the story for those of us who bought our '02 C4s
in the not too distant past for 55-60K is what our cars would be worth to a dealer today. The Naples dealer must have really ripped off the seller.
I would never buy a car sight unseen but your story makes me wonder if I'm missing something.
Your photos are also quite special. They really tell a great story.
You reminded me how I felt when I first sat in mine. As I drove away from the dealer, I couldn't believe I actually owned it.
I have one suggestion. Get in some track days to fill you need for speed.
Gillie, my local dealership has some CPO cars in stock. When I stopped in yesterday, they had an identical car to mine, except it was an '03, similar options give or take. They advised me they won't let it go for less than 58K (which is about 4K too high IMO), so I wouldn't be too worried. I am still perplexed about the deal I obtained, but if they didn't have to advertise it, or have it take up room, there must have been some incentive. I'm also thinking that maybe they had it on consignment and the seller grabbed at early action (perhaps more money than he would have received had he traded it). I do know that some dealers will sell on consignment without telling the consumer. I've been told that I walk betweem the raindrops in the past. Just good luck I guess, as I have been extrememly patient in locating the "right" deal. I try to give myself a lot of cool down time when I want to be whimsical. Today, I loved waking up so I could drive the car. I have had a lot of cars, this one takes the cake. I'm hoping my boredom factor does not kick in too soon. Usually hits after 2 years or so. But I just can't imagine me unloading this car when factoring in what I paid.
MikeRosen, no worries there. While I drive too fast all the time, I will bring this car on the track eventually. I have tracked in the past, and it is addictive. Can't wait to see what this puppy can really do on the twisties in a controlled environment. I would imagine I'm going to need a different instructor given the extra power and handling. This car is simply a pleasure to drive on a daily basis.
Just wondering when I will start concentrating on work again instead of finding the weakest excuse to leave work for a while. That's one great benefit in working for yourself.
If anyone wants a hint on locating a good CPO, you can search the entire county in one search thru
www.porsche.com
. You can narrow years and models very easily. I found this car on the Porsche website a few hours after it posted, and it never appeared on the dealer's local site.
Einstein....here's their local website.....ask for Ken Lucas if you see anything interesting. He's a gem.

Best,
Man, we need to take that $42.5k out of our dataset here - it's an outlayer.
As for the speed, yeah, it's quite a jump from an older 911. I really enjoyed my '94 Cab, but when I drove the C4S the first time, it was a whole different ballgame.
It's a good thing I've never driven a turbo...
Hi all,
Thanks so much for the comments...they are greatly appreciated. Just put a coat of Rejex on the car.....looks a bit shinier, but certainly is much smoother when you run your hand down the car. No more small bumps here and there.....perfectly smooth. Really nice product.
