Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

37 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I recently became a 996 owner. After posting some pix, Harold (User Name hwk72) offered me his CD storage box that is located under the radio. My car came with a cassette holder, something I will not utilize. Anyhow, he sent it to me for free, even arrived before my car did, and I can't express how much I appreciate the open arms here at Rennlist. So, I'm going to "pay it forward." Up for grabs is my cassette holder. Not sure if it will be a popular item, but I can send it to anyone who NEEDS it. If you are a newbie, or yours is busted, post here and PM me your info. and it's yours. It looks brand new and holds 4 cassettes. No tools needed. I know it will fit in the console for '02 - '04 996's. Not sure on earlier models though. All I ask is that you offer up something in exchange to this community. If it shows up on ebay, you will be busted by the brethren within. If you have something you don't need, or want to give away, feel free to post. No real rules other than the above. Let's see how long this thread can go. Best, Jon -a very happy Rennlister

POST 3Original post

Can someone give me a GT3? I REALLY could use it! On a serious note, that's nice of hwk72. Good thread... a thread for parts-sharing instead of nickle-diming fellow owners!

POST 4Original post

I'm sure we all have sets of pumpkin side markers to get rid of for those that got tired of their clears.

POST 5Original post

post it here: https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist-recycler-post-your-free-giveaways-here-142/

POST 6Original post

I am looking for some 19" black rims..with tires (95% tread) and will pay it forward with a couple of exhausts (original) 996 '99 or a set of 4 springs for a 996 '99.....

POST 7Original post

What in the world are cassette tapes? Just kidding, but that's an odd thing to option in this day an age... ...very nice thread though, goodwill toward men and all.

POST 8Original post

Since the grass is always greener on the other side I have often wondered if the pumpkin US side markers would be considered an upgrade for the Europeans as a way to make their cars look different. Nice thought and idea on the pass it forward.

POST 9Original post

While the spirit of this thread was great as an initial endevour, it will NEVER be taken seriously by a bunch of wise-crackers like those of us here on the 996 board The thread should be a nice "thank-you" to the original donor of the CD holder to your car. Hopefully, that alturistic attitude is understood by others and they do the same. Personally, I have received plenty of items from other Rennlisters FREE and they were valuable items that they just didn't have use for anymore nor felt like the hassle of eBay or haggling with a Rennlister. In turn I have sent a alot of items that I didn't need or if I had extra of something that another couldn't obtain I sent as well. Moral to the story? Rennlist is THE place to come to if you want to meet some of the greatest car owners in the world. Give me your shipping address and mine is on it's way to you! Please kindly pay-it-forward and donate the value of the car to a charity of my choosing

POST 10Original post

Oh...so now you can't GIVE your GT3 away without getting a charitable deduction Now how is that in the spirit of Rennlist

POST 13Original post

Damn Steve, you should know better than to mess with my mind before I get my java flowing!

POST 14Original post

Yes, I have already been to John's Cafe for breakfast and MANY cup of joe! What happens when you get up at 5:00

POST 15Original post

Today is my day off. Unfortunately I have to write up an exam so I really need to get my neurons firing! Time to hit the Tassimo machine one more time

POST 16Original post

A few weeks ago I gave away a Speed Lingerie bra for a Guard's Red Boxster I owned years ago. It had been sitting in my garage gathering dust. -Charles

POST 17Original post

Well there you go Charles. A bell just rang for you

POST 18Original post

I have an 8-track storage bin from my 911 is anyone wants it.

POST 20Original post

This is a great idea, for example I was in the local Tim Hortons Drive thru( our dunkin donuts for my American friends) and behind me was a great looking women driving a Brand New C6 Vette rag top. So being the nice guy i am I payed for her order and drove off to park my car. Well she pulled up beside me and thanked me with her phone number.........So She payed it forward..err back to me! The moral of this story is I love coffee

POST 22Original post

I have received two separate sets of mufflers at no charge (I paid shipping): o - 3.4L from Tim Wasmer in Denver o - 3.6L from Ray S. in Chicago o - I almost got a set from Dell, but.... well that's a whole different story. I did the PSE mod to both of them. I recently gave the modded 3.4L mufflers to a Rennlister. He paid shipping costs.

POST 23Original post

Never gonna let me live that one down are ya!?!?!?! I even dumpster dived to try and get them for you. I guess I owe you a favor Godfather.

POST 24Original post

OK I have an idea. Since I have given stuff to other members also so why doesn't Tim make me a set of the 3.6 modded mufflers and send them to me (I pay the shipping of course)

POST 25Original post

ok..I'll play on a serious tip..to many clowns in this joint.. up for grabs I have an unused orange cap

POST 26Original post

OOOHOooh I will take it....but I can't remember what to do with it Doesn't it improve sound?

POST 27Original post

Alex, If steve doesn't take the orange cap, I'll take it! I'll even trade you for my old cassette holder, or my extra lighter!

POST 28Original post

Dell, Can I be the charity of your choosing -td <-- just living up to all that talk of wise-crackers

POST 29Original post

You are very welcome Jon - enjoy the CD holder! BTW it was LVDell here on Rennlist who encouraged me to take out my lower center console as DIY (GT3 center console delete kit) to gain more legroom for various reasons - e.g. heel and toe (works fine now) as I was pretty stuck in the seat being 6'6'', so no need for the CD holder anymore. I further found a good thread on how to change my steering wheel - DIY and Paul996 from here advised me on changing my brake pads DIY from OEM to Pagid Orange and let my daughter test seat a Recaro child seat model he owns. All I want to say: This is a great place and either you donate parts or knowledge if we all live the same spirit, then it'll continue to be a win-win situation for everyone (although we're not always of the same opinion - e.g. winter tires - Dell, Ray S. - I'm still right!).

POST 31Original post

I thought that might get your attantion! Glad to see you're stopping by more often to the "Fun" Forum.

POST 32Original post
