Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've used K&N instakes on other cars with good results and no problems (one MAF, one MAP), but it's hard to ignore the reports of problems.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recall that when these intakes came out we had a flood of people jumping on them...and then a flood of people reporting MAF issues and ditching them. I heard two explanations for the issues: 1. Over oiling from the factory and this could be resolved by washing and lightly re-oiling prior to installation. 2. DIY'ers installing the MAF backwards. Was this ever resolved? I've used K&N instakes on other cars with good results and no problems (one MAF, one MAP), but it's hard to ignore the reports of problems. Have people logged reasonable mileage without issues with this intake? Thanks, Shawn

POST 2Original post

I do not think so and most people here will tell you to go with the EVO system.

POST 4Original post

Far too many issues with the MAF sensor related to the aftermarket CAI. FWIW, I wouldn't put any aftermarket CAI on my car... PERIOD.

POST 6Original post

Some of us never had an issue to begin with: 1.2 years and counting with never a single problem.

POST 7Original post

mine tripped the CEL but i ran it anyway, so i have no idea if my MAF is on backwards or not, but my guess is that it's not because the car runs great. i ended up going with cat bypasses anyway so CEL is forever on

POST 8Original post

Ghost if your cell is always on thus useless maybe you should pull the CEL light so you do not have to look at it.

POST 9Original post

Will the car not kick into "limp mode" if the CEL is on for an extended period of time? That, and isn't it really bothersome to clear the CEL in the computer display every time you start the car? Would an ECU flash correct this issue by adapting new tolerances?

POST 10Original post

My problwm with the system was the look of it. I started to put it together, and it looked pretty "unfinished". I remember someone on here saying that it looked like it was still in the prototype stage, which it did. So, I can't speak to the performance (or lack of) there was no way thaT i WAS GOING TO PUT THAT ON MY CAR. jUST MY OPINION, hope it helps

POST 11Original post

the light doesn't really bother me (although i may remove the bulb when i go to white dash leds) as for limp mode, i had the same worry at first but so far so good

POST 12Original post

i kinda like the design of the intake, but it does look a little unfinished, i'm thinking of getting the tube painted

POST 13Original post

Again pay more and get the EVO it is top notch in quality and construction. While you are in there you might think about the Plenium sp? mod that many of us have done.
