Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have found a mirage C4S 996 for sale. Maybe the only one in the world (special order color in '03). Only issue is no lumbar (I've had folks here offer to sell me a little pillow for $1000 in the past, so don't start again
). That is critical for me in the 996 seat, but I've found the OEM supplier to Audi and Cadillac offers a unit that can be retrofitted....
So, with my AWD sedan totalled and needing AWD for our winter, the choices are Audi 4/BMW 335xi and keep my C2 ($50,000); sell my C2 and buy the 996 mirage C4S ($55000-30,000 = $25,000), or sell my C2 and get that new 997 C4S ($100,000-$30,000 = $70,000 total).
What a great problem, as there are no bad choices. If I go with the 996 C4S I even get to look forward to a 998 or whatever in 5 or 6 years while if I go 997 I should be done car buying for a decade or more.
While I welcome all opinions the decision will end up based less on the car's relative merits and more on practicality (a sedan will protect the C2 from the elements, the C4's will let me enjoy Porsche driving all year, and I can save a chunk by "living" with a 996 and have plenty left for mod's....). Thought you'd enjoy vicariously joining in my deliberations.
I do need advice on one issue, but for that you'll have to see my other post (and I'm cross posting this on the 997 forum to see what they have to say as well......).
What a great situation to be in.
I really think the 998 is going to be the killer deal where it's going to be more revolutionary than evolutionary such as the transition from 996 to 997. I'm looking forward to the 998. The 997 is great, but doesn't wow me much as I'm not a fan of the VW bug style headlights and the rather plain jane overall design. I expected something more radical, but hey, it keeps the '02+ 996s very fresh indeed.
With that said, who knows what's going to happen in 5 years let alone tomorrow? Go for the best you can buy today which is the 997 C4S. It's overall a superior package to the 996 C4S except in the looks dept where the 996 C4S sets itself apart a bit better than the 997 C4S.
You may well find yourself in a 998 when it comes out - who knows?
