Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Let's use the X51 powerkit from Porsche as the max gauge and go from there.
Leading evidence: 'Use x51 powerkit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use x51 powerkit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am just wondering what kind of power people are making with a "full bolt on" car, IE intake, plenum, headers, exhaust, chip, ect...
Any dyno numbers or 1/4 times?
I love the look of the 3.6 996, but I think that a 930 might meet my performance desires more, I am not sure. I like both cars for different reasons. So I was wondering what kind of power (short of FI) is being made with the 996.
Thanks a lot.
Hmmm my understanding from reading was that the X51 kit wasn't quite as good as some of the aftermarket stuff... but I'm sure not much of a diff.
I am just trying to get a sence of the cars potential without bleeding me dry.
When I am close to purchasing I will drive both the 996 and 930 to see which is more "me".
instead of doing some of that stuff (i.e. Intake/exhaust), i would put that money towards a good set of cams. There's noticable power gains to be had with an aggressive cam, but you have to goto someone who knows what they're talking about. FVD makes a set.
otherwise, forced induction.
without cams and doing all boltons i would agree with the others and say that 30HP is the biggest gain you will get.
Yea, hmmm
a 996 with an S/C
or
A 930 with a K27....
In all honesty I think I like the look of the newer car better, the soft subtle lines are just great. But I wonder in the end which is going to cost me more to reach a certain performance level... I would think the 996 would.
996 maxxed out with S/C (475hp), have to lower compression to go any higher than 6 lbs of boost. $$$$$$$$$$$
930 maxxed out from CIS (400-450hp), would have to go EFI for higher hp $$$$$$$$$
Best route might be 996TT for big hp
If you really want the best (most reliable and potentially less expensive) I'd look behind door #3
996TT
They can be had in the $50's. Make over 400hp out of the box and can easily get to over 600hp.
Ray,
A guy down my street had an 02 TT for sale over a year ago for $62k. I took a look at it but didn't really like the red interior. I really wish I had bought it but I just didn't like the red plus I would have had to sell my 996 for much less than it was worth with winter coming. A used TT is on my list as my next Porsche.
most 996TT's seems to start in the 60K range, nearly double an N/A 996 OUCH!! For that kind of money (if I had it) I would look at a viper GTS... similar performance 2x the shock and awe.
We'll see, maybe I can live with an N/A 996, I just wonder what kind of acceleration they can muster with bolt ons.... mid 13's (I know its not a drag car but it is a base of measure) isn't stellar these days.
