And so with my winter/bad weather car gone and needing one, I get to consider as I did when I bought the AWD: C4S, run all year with full clear bra for protection and winter wheels/tires.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

AWD car totalled last month. Purchased my mirage/space grey C2 as my long term dream car, promptly relocated from CA to MT, and have put 11000 miles on it in 7 years. And so with my winter/bad weather car gone and needing one, I get to consider as I did when I bought the AWD: C4S, run all year with full clear bra for protection and winter wheels/tires. Probably go with the 997 for warranty, and because THIS time it will be a 10 year car. I swear (at least to my wife). OTOH, my 944 went 9 years and 110k miles, and the 996 is 8 years old. I expect I'll have to do a trade (location not great for P-car sales), but if anyone's interested in a well optioned C2 with Kinesis K28 wheels let me know. Color combo is rare, but everyone who sees it loves it (warmer than arctic and changes more with light. The grey interior looks really sharp, too). Was very active on this forum while choosing my car and lurked enough since to know that Dell will advise me on reasonable pricing . I expect trade will be high 20's and fair private party 30-32 (recalculated at Edmund's and came up with $34 to start as I feel the wheels are a valuable add and forgot the ROW springs....). Pix and options list available if interested.

POST 2Original post

I think that you can get a bit more for it. That is seriously low mileage. I did a lot of shopping before I bought my '99 late last year for $29k w/ 39k mi. And it was bone stock. I'd a bought yours in a heartbeat.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the encouragement, that's why i posted. Distance, shipping, poor market here, etc. is why I'd be looking for low 30's. Realism says that after a month or so I'd be stuck reducing the price. Hopefully, a few more like you are here who haven't made their move and will contact me.....

POST 4Original post

Gary - you live in MONTANA and dont drive that car all the time?!?!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's different here than you'd think. City type traffic to go to work/shopping, as town too small for freeways, and only occasional distance trips without family to open it up. But I also get to feel like I got a new car every March, and over the past few weeks "forced" into driving it daily I am appreciating it more and more, which moves me towards the C4S over the sport sedans. So I can drive it every day, all year, no other options.....

POST 6Original post

Interesting - I always "dreamed" montana was wide open highways with safe and prudent speed restrictions

POST 7Original post

Montana got muscled into speed limits by the federal government a few years back.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, about 10 months BEFORE I got here.......

POST 9Original post

Wait...Billings, MT? Never heard of that place.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, it's a secret..... I can save you a lot on shipping if you want my 996, though. Might even deliver it myself

POST 11Original post

I'll trade my 928 for it straight up. It already has 996 seats in it...so it'll be an easy transition for you.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With all the interest i've gotten for mine, maybe...... I guess not.

POST 13Original post

I'd be interested in the pics (though I am on the wrong side of the country...)

POST 14Original post

Please post pics and options. May have someone interested in Sheridan WY.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can't get the pic to upload...

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

re: options, have posted in classifieds #6550: Options include power/lumbar seats, litronics, carbon/al shifter, full leather interior, ROW M030 springs (porsche OEM, lowered), 18" kinesis k28 wheels. Color is rare, similar in depth to arctic but with a gold cast. Pictures on request.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. It just wouldn't upload, but I went to my add, and was given the error message related to size. The pic is there, and I will now try, as YOU SUGGESTED, to upload that one which is 79bytes so "legal". Presuming it works, I'm going to give you credit, as I did exactly what you said to get it to go this time

POST 19Original post

It worked! Whew! <wipes sweat from his forehead> My "string" is alive and well! Nice looking P-car! However, the Pumpkins have got to go! Harvest those things and get some clear side markers.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was happy to get the clear parking lights on the front (late '99 build), the pumpkins are at least "related" to the mirage (brown, orange, all the same to me ). I don't get how mirage is so rare. My biggest disappointment in going to the C4 is giving up this combo. The classic silver/grey/black cars just don't do it for me. One of my targets, BTW, is Lapis. Maybe meteor or GT silver. Maybe an S4 and keep my 996. Not a bad problem, given it started with a head-on meeting an impaired driver intended with my Volvo.

POST 21Original post

Here is a quick photoshop of you car with the clears in it.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I actually think I like my pumpkins. But what do I know. I love mirage, and it was discontinued in the 2nd model year, presumably from lack of interest.....
