Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Car is super nice with only 42k on the clock. Guards red with tan leather. the sport seats and center console are painted body color from the factory. The car also is a sunroof delete car. I participate in DE events, so i am pumped to find this relatively rare spec.

POST 6Original post

I'm surprised to learn that a 996 exists w/o a sunroof. Nice find.

Ahem < Tim clears his throat > Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting a nice looking 996..... or at least we imagine it is a nice looking 996. However, since you didn't post any pics of the car we can't be sure. Consider this next sentence your official "Newbie Initiation." Come Newbie, post the @#$%^&* pics! I HAVE to do this so they let me stay on the 996 Forum. Remember, it's all in good fun. Again, Welcome to Rennlist!

POST 8Original post

Tim you let a full hour go by! Are you going soft?

Sounds very nice. We can only imagine how the guards red shines, and how the painted center console contrasts beautifully with the tan leather. Did Tim talk to you yet? You will love it. Where ya located?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will post pics soon. My Mom had surgery today and i do not have access to pics, but I am spending a bunch of time in the hospital waiting room. I had a 99' 996 about two years ago, and I am very familiar with the cars. This is my 4th Porsche and I just had to buy this one as i knew it was a rare spec. It also has red seat belts which tie in nicely. I love the sport seats for two reasons. They fit me much nicer and the body colored back look very nice and make the interior really pop. I will post pics very soon. Thanks for making me feel welcome,

POST 14Original post

hey, take care of Mom, we can wait a little while for the pics......

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7245925

Thanks. Mom is doing well. She had open heart surgery today at the Cleveland Clinic. She is recovering now, but she seems to be doing great. I thank God that they found the issue before it became a much bigger issue and that she was able to be at the Cleveland Clinic. They are the second best heart hospital in the world and they just happen to be 30 minutes from her house.

POST 16Original post

Hope all goes well with Mom! We are an amusing bunch, Lots of good info here and you will have some laughs.

POST 18Original post

Sounds like a nice 996...hope your Mom rebounds so she can go for a ride in your 'new' Porsche.

POST 19Original post

Next it will be "my dog ate my digital camera" Post some pics!!

POST 20Original post

Welcome, can't wait to see your pics! Sounds like an awesome no-nonsense Porsche. Good luck with it, and to your mom.

I'm on the west side of Cleveland. However I lived in Cbus for about 8 years while attending OSU among other things. Will you be at Mid-Ohio this season? I will be there will PCA and NASA running DEs.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7246289

I should be at the Mid-Ohio DE with PCA and the Audi Club. I will likely try to do a couple of events at Autobahn in Chicago with the Audi Club out there too.

POST 24Original post

Congrats on the car, what a beauty it is! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6761&viewitem=

POST 25Original post

thats the car? Beautiful ! OMG CLEAN ! ! ! its the orient express part two

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7246831

That's my car. Thank you for the compliment and posting the auction so that people could see the car. I have looked at many cars over the past two years and I am very particular. This car is clean beyond my expectations, which are very high. The owner was really nice and the car was 15 miles from my house. All things considered, I could not pass it up.

POST 29Original post

Indeed great find congrat, PO was a "nut" at keeping his car in such conditions for 8yrs, so clean. Plus it has so many tasteful upgrades. Nice, enjoy her, cheers...

POST 30Original post

Wow, what a fantastic looking car. Hope everything goes well with your mom. Welcome to Rennlist!

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 7245956

Take care of your mom and take it easy with the new car if you take the poor woman for a ride in the new Porsche!

POST 32Original post

wow - 15 miles away and the car you were waiting for - match made ! you will have to be in contact with Orient Express to get the details on how to detail it and keep it that way. He is a master cleaner..........just search his user ID and find pics on here, Renntech and all over the interwebs

POST 33Original post

No prob, only reason I knew about it was those sport seats, I sent the owner a message asking to buy them and swap for mine. Beige sport seats are very rare! Enjoy it in good health.

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7247531

I knew it was a rare bird with the sunroof delete, sport seats with painted backs, painted center console and red seat belts. With my intent on continuing to do DE events, this car was a natural fit.

I was not a big fan of the chrome wheels that are shown in the pics. They do look better in person, but I plan on using the Porsche 3 piece wheels that also came with it and were pictured. I was thinking about refinishing the Porsche wheel centers is gunmetal or black and selling the chrome wheels. What are everyone's thoughts on the chrome wheels? Don't worry, you will not offend me as I am not sure that I like them so I want to hear opinions. Thanks,

POST 38Original post

Quotes source post: 7247567

Fan of F1, BTW, posting pics that were taken by the previous owner does NOT meet the "official Rennlist requirement" that the current owner needs to post pics of his newly acquired car. In other words, you still owe us some pics!

POST 42Original post

yea yea, but no reason youcant post a FS ad on those wheels

POST 47Original post

Good Luck to your mom. Where in Columbus are you located ?

POST 48Original post

Great looking 996. I'm sure you'll love it. I'm glad your mother is recovering well. BTW, I'm an Ohio Wesleyan alum (I was there for 2-1/2 years). I love the Columbus area. +1 on changing the chrome wheels - I agree with you. Here's a picture of the wheels I have - I love 'em. They're painted (factory) and they're beautiful; especially when they're polished with some Rejex or Zainos. Bob

In the Dublin area. How about you?

POST 50 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7249537

Those were the wheels that I was talking about having the centers painted either gunmetal or black. What do you think?

POST 51Original post

Quotes source post: 7249593

those are differant wheels than these.... are these the ones you got that you wanted to paint?

POST 52 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7249743

They are genuine 3 Piece wheels, so I was thinking about refinishing the centers.

POST 53Original post

gunmetal might be a little dark IMO for a red car..........I dont have a good eye for colors though - we are talking about the wheels in the pic I posted right?

POST 54Original post

Quotes source post: 7245919

I'm in Columbus as well. So is Andy (AudiOn19s), Artie (RT930turbo), Gregg, and I believe a few others. There is a Cars & Coffee at Lennox in the warmer months, you should come out. Congrats on the new ride.

POST 55 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was hoping that there would be some members in the area. The Cars & Coffee thing sounds great. Do they meet every week? I would definitely be down for that. Post some more info on that if you have any.

POST 57Original post

They did it every other Saturday in the parking lot of Cup 'O Joe from about 8am until 10am. It's not a very big event in terms of attendance but the mix of cars that did show up were neat to look at and the people were nice as well. Unfortunately I don't have any more info on it. Andy is the one that told me about it and I think he found out about it through Columbus Racing.

Hope to see you there.

POST 59Original post

In the User CP section a guy can input his location. Some times I wish everybody would finally do so. Things like weather a curent person has, available tracks, shops available to advise a guy to go to, dealer options or many other things could be figured. Plus I'd know if guys or gals are living near where I used to If anyone's scared of somebody knowing where, just the state or compass region would work. Anything is better than nothing.

POST 60Original post

Welcome. Let me be the first to say that I am VERY jealous that you found a sunroof-delete car. That's the one thing I wish was different about my car. Also, congrats on the good purchase price. Looks like a steal. Lastly, as others have suggested: sell those chrome things as fast as you possibly can. There was a time and a place when chrome was ok. It was called the 1950's.

POST 61 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7253731

Thanks. The sunroof delete really sealed the deal for me. I think the concensus is to sell the chrome rims. I may consider having those refinished and leave the lip chrome. What does everyone think of that idea?

POST 63Original post

Quotes source post: 7260492

I wouldn't put any money into them because they're very inexpensive wheels to begin with. The issue's with them are 1) chrome plating 2) faux multi-piece construction 3) weight. What is your budget for a replacement set?

POST 64 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7260537

I was thinking having the centers & center caps refinished black with the lips polished. I think that might look good.

POST 65Original post
