Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I'll check later tonight to see if I have the invoice with the part numbers (I should, I keep every receipt related to my car).

I'm doing the mod because I have a flip up screen nav system and I'm getting tired of fliping it down when I want to change the temp.

If you don't already have them, I'd be happy to send you mine to use since I certainly have no plans for them in the immediate future.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 00 and just moved the A/C controls to the bottom. Right now I have a big hole in the dash
I contacted the dealer and he said it won't fit and you could try but the parts are like $500.
So what part do I need to make this work? If a 99 can do it mine should be able to do it as well.
If you have the part number as well that would help
Your dealer is clueless--I've heard that it is tough to retrofit the 02 and newer cupholders, but the pre-02 cupholders is an easy, cheap, and popular mod. I did this to my 99, and got every single part I needed (including the new ac bezel for the lower shelf position) in a kit from sunsent porsche for about 60-70 bucks, if I recall correctly. Call them up and they will know exactly what you are talking about (sorry, I don't have a part number at the moment as I am at work...but I can get you the number later tonight probably). I found sunset porsche great to work with. By the way...this was a great mod as I really appreciate the cupholders given that my car is a daily driver You won't be disappointed.
forgot to mention, if your dash configuration was like mine, you will also have to relocate your radio from the top spot to the spot just below, as the top spot is the only spot where the cupholder kit will fit. If this is the case, you will need the becker radio removal tools. If you don't already have them, I'd be happy to send you mine to use since I certainly have no plans for them in the immediate future. Let me know. Scott.
Scott,
Thanks for the info. If it's not to much trouble it would help with the part numbers. If it is don't worry about it

Thanks agian
there are 2 options here:

and
option 2 is MUCH easier... but option 1 is cleaner.....

I haven't decided which way I'm going yet but option 2 seems like a lot less effort...
I just checked my invoice from Sunset. The part number listed for the kit is: 000-044-801-91. Strange that it does not start with 996 or 986. In any case, this is the number listed. Also, the a/c panel bezel is listed as 996-107-225-53 (for some reason this has to be purchased separately as it is not included in the cupholder kit). Hope this helps (fyi, the kit was 62 bucks from sunsent back in November).
how functional is this new kit.... I mean how large of a container can it hold... coke.. maybe a little bigger... can it hold a 500 ml bottle of water.... do you have any pics of the holders in action....
how much will an indy charge to install this kit?
Dude, what the hell. I am in the process of doing that and I asked for advice, and no one came through, moreover; peope, and I won't say any (Dell) names said it wasn't worth it, cause it was near-impossible.
How'd you do it, do you have pics? How much was it, etc....yada...yada..
I was going to wait till i finished my interior to make a post here but see my thread from 6speed and then ask questions from there...

I also updated the 99 style lower console that is graphite to the black leather version. MUCH cleaner!
