Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
None would commit to repairing an IMS failure (not that they understand it - heck I barely do!) - they said they cover worn bearings, etc - but the very next line says they DON'T cover wear/tear items.
Leading evidence: 'Repair ims failure (not' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair ims failure (not' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
We looked at a few in Canada - about the same, some had bumper to bumper (no km limits - 3 years), but some had a max $5000/repair - okay for most things but IMS failure.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just purchased a 2002 C2 cab on 1/7/10 with 28,000 miles. Purchased a warranty through the dealership, Tim Holt Motorsports in West Chester, PA. Warranty is from Preferred Warranties, INC. (
www.warrantys.com
) Several plans. Mine is the Optimum plan. It covers all seals plus a wealth of other items. Cost for two years was 2970.00. Really debated whether to go the warranty route but was assured that it covered RMS and more. Good luck.
I just went through rearching extended warranties. I asked for cost on a 02 coupe with 40K miles, Carchex.com quoted me $3300 for 2 years, 24000 miles. Easycare (quoted from dealer) platinum is $3200 for 2 year 24K, or $3600 for 3 year 36K miles. Neither one is bumper to bumper but covers all major parts. Both had $250 deductable per incident. Carchex had a 30 day waiting period before the first claim.
From what I found, all after market warranty companies have some compliants on them. carchex seems to be the best. I ened up buying a 03' CPO car. From what I have read and seen, CPO offers the best coverage by far, with no deductable. And before a car can be CPO the dealer has too inspect and part up to spec. I paid $28000 for mine with 61k miles.
We looked at a few in Canada - about the same, some had bumper to bumper (no km limits - 3 years), but some had a max $5000/repair - okay for most things but IMS failure. One company was major power train and engine with limit up to cost of vehicle. None would commit to repairing an IMS failure (not that they understand it - heck I barely do!) - they said they cover worn bearings, etc - but the very next line says they DON'T cover wear/tear items. I have heard many stories of various companies blaming major repairs on wear and tear items. I still have a few weeks to get one, but will keep that money and probably do the IMS retrofit.
Thanks fellas, I spoke with Car Cheks today. They explained that they don't cover IMS failure. Bumper to bumper is not available I paid 3k+ for a one year warranty B2B (united auto) from the dealer. I feel like I got ripped off.
