Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace altogether!)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace altogether!)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

1) manual transmission and transaxle oil change intervals?
Run 'em till the boot breaks and/or they get noisy

I would run'em till the boot breaks and/or they get noisy, then they get relubed and rebooted at the same time.

For normal use, the rule of thumb is 10 years/100K miles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm in the process of deciding on an indy in SF...getting various maintenance recommendations from the indies....What are recommendations on:
1) manual transmission and transaxle oil change intervals?
2) any mileage interval for greasing of CV joints?
3) a couple indies were suggesting 30k even though Porsche says 60k due to oil tube O rings and typical plug condition at 60k...
I have a 2002 C4 Cab w/ 32k miles.
Thanks.
1) I did at 60K
2) Not sure about that one
3) Did mine at 60K. I would only do the plugs if you see oil from the coil area. I had 4 of them leaking and 2 cracked coils that I found when changing them. My spark plugs were still in ok shape at 55k. If nothing is wrong then there is no reason I see in doing that job. IMPO
Always heard they're "lubed for life", not sure there's even a way of lubing them.
I would run'em till the boot breaks and/or they get noisy, then they get relubed and rebooted at the same time. (or more likely replaced altogether!)
There is no interval for the transmission/differential oil change. For normal use, the rule of thumb is 10 years/100K miles.
CV joints are sealed units and need no maintenance unless the boot is damaged.
The major maintenance at 60K for a 2002 is crankcase oil & filter, air and cabin filters, serpentine belt, and spark plugs. Every 2 years the brake fluid should be flushed and replaced. This stuff is very easy to DIY and can be done for under $150 in parts.
Sounds like your Indy was giving you a recommendation for an air cooled car.

I think there is a book that has all this information in it, but I can't remember what it's called. Hummm... Oh! that's it! It's called the manual! RTFM
Thanks everyone. Appreciate the input. For what it's worth, yes, I read the manual, but I consider the manual to be the maximum intervals. Glad I didn't ask about engine oil viscosity :-)
At the risk of this thread never ending, I'm planning on the following intervals:
oil & filter every 7500 miles
air/pollen filters every 15k miles
brake fluid flush every 2 years
manual transmission & front transaxle oil every 30k miles
spark plugs every 30k miles
