Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not seriously considering it myself, because I like the simple stealth look. But I could see the appeal, if it's a nice piece.

POST 2Original post

Im my humble opinion, it is a why bother kit because it doesn't visually add much of anything?

POST 4Original post

Saw that in the Perf Products catalog, Take it or leave it... painting is a must.

POST 5Original post

And yet, I like it. It would be particularly nice on a black coupe,... Nice late 70's, 80's retro look, which is of course the whole point. On maybe an early C2 cabriolet (Ivangene, are you looking at this?) And in the down position, it gives you a flat place to set your beer and sandwich.

That's what caught my eye. I chose and modded my car to be kind of a modern take on an old school 911, so it did give me pause.

POST 7Original post

and it ships with double sided tape... I'll stick to the GT3 wing I just picked up.

POST 9Original post

Put that on your car and you just end up with "wing envy" If you want retro, go duck!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7259369

I'd prefer no wing at all, personally. I don't want to drive a car with body work that writes cheques the engine can't cash.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7259369

... but that is kind of cool.

POST 12Original post

I will look at work after lunch, the blaclberry is tough to reallly see the pics, but my thought is I hate the stock little pop up little flakey tiny butterfly wing thing so that thing is like adding a pointing finger at the one thing I hate and saying "Look and the stupid wing thing I hate so much I spent extra money to show you how icky it is" Sorry - as some know I can be a bit bi-polar

POST 13Original post

It would definitely look better painted...........but I would still say "no"!

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 7259386

So, no wing for your Pinto!

POST 15Original post

nope - my previous post stands.... and Bruce, ever thought of a GT2 wing for your Pinto... Might give you a whole new appreciation of the big wing concept

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7259414

Safer that way. Plus, it would clash with my Firestone 500s.

POST 18Original post

I'd thing the contact points would rub paint wrong.

POST 19Original post

A Pinto needs a Subaru Sti wing with roof spoiler as far as I am concerned, although something sticking out farther in the rear would protect the vulnerable gas tank

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7259764

That hurts my feelings a little.

POST 21Original post

Hey Bruce, isn't that ^ the air scoop I sold you after I de-modded my 996? It looks good in yellow! Sorry, the mini wing extension isn't "doing it" for me.

POST 22Original post

Ok - Bruce come clean, you punched the door lock and stole that thing right Holy cow ! That's like 20 pounds of groceries in a 5 pound bag!

POST 24Original post

Looks like I am on the wrong side of the table here... I llike it. And I have a black 996. Where are they available, and how much? ....Rickker

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Performance Products. About $270, IIRC.

What's the HP gain?

POST 28Original post

another place to set down your sausage biscuit. ;-)

POST 29Original post

Personally, I don't like it. I think it detracts from the lines of the rear of the vehicle.

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 7259974

I agree with you and also have a black C2

POST 32Original post

I'm not gonna comment on the wing, but as long as it's 3M VHB tape and is prepped correctly it will never come off. VHB is now being used to replace welding and mechanical fastening for light gauge metals and obviously plastic in many industries that require a butt type connection. Unlike stitch, seam welding, or mechanical fastening it is able to bite 100% on both surfaces. Not as good as the modern epoxys used in body applications, but very close and a lot less mess.
