Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently purchased a 2000 996. Removed the transmission to check IMS, RMS, and clutch. When reassembling the new updates release lever, the spring that holds on the sealing washer seems very loose compared to the old style that was removed. Can someone verify that is normal or did I get a bad spring?

POST 2Original post

I just did mine this summer. My buddy and I noticed the exact same thing. We pondered quite a bit and put the old one back together. Reassembled it a couple of times. We finally figured it was correct. That was 2500 miles ago. Basically I replaced everything that was in between the engine and transmission. I wish you the best,

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, I guess that is how it should be. I did the same thing, disassemble and reassemble, wondering if I had messed up.
