Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Passed the PPI with flying colors (will need brakes and rear tires in another 5-8K miles), rear end is bone dry- never had any RMS issues, complete service records, car has B&M ssk and PSE installed by previous owner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

34 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I took delivery on my first Porsche last night, a Zenith Blue 1999 996 with 46.4K miles, with Space Gray interior (with leather lining option). Passed the PPI with flying colors (will need brakes and rear tires in another 5-8K miles), rear end is bone dry- never had any RMS issues, complete service records, car has B&M ssk and PSE installed by previous owner. Thanks to the many knowledgeable and helpful folks on this board, I'm confident that I was able to make a safe and educated buying decision on this car. Many thanks to those who responded to my newbie posts on option codes, etc., and those whose knowledge of these cars is freely shared on a daily basis. What a great online community this is! After one year plus of researching this purchase, I thought I had it narrowed down to a 3.2 Carrera, until I drove a 996 a few weeks ago. Man, what a piece of engineering! Grins per mile factor is off the charts, and the current market prices of these cars is just too good to ignore, IMHO. Anybody on here active in the Shenandoah Valley PCA? Pics to follow soon, and again, many thanks!

POST 3Original post

Pics of the car against the Shenandoah Valley would be sweet, I bet! Good luck with the car! Don't know how you waited a full year!?

POST 4Original post

DL - Congrats on getting your P-car! BTW - we WILL hold you to your promise for pics! <note to self: add DL Lawrence the the "Newbie - Promised Pics" list >

POST 7Original post

That's what I was thinking. I couldn't wait the 5 hours it took them to pull the car off the showroom, and buff and polish everything..

POST 8Original post

Congrats! I am currently in the market for a 996. would you mind if I ask what you paid? You can PM me if you don't wish to post online. Oh yeah, and post some pics ASAP

POST 12Original post

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a nice day today to spend some quality time "bonding" on the twisties here in rural Central VA. NICE

POST 21Original post

Wow, that's a nice blue! Looks kinda like BMW's "Estoril Blue" - very electric!

POST 22Original post

I love it... nice and bright and distinctive.... It's always nice to see a color that's not grey, silver, black, etc.

POST 23Original post

DL nice pic! Love the Blue. L@@ks sweet! <note to self: remove DL Lawrence from the "Newbie - Promised Pics" list >

POST 26Original post

Congrats and welcome to the Porsche Club as a new owner. As I've said many times the joy these cars bring to those who have waited for them is priceless. Best of luck. Jay

POST 27Original post

What a beautiful blue. Congrats! Can anyone tell me the specific name or difference between the turbo twist wheels on DL's blue car & Wellardmac's white?

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, guys. That's one of the reasons I bought this one- you don't see many that color. Yes, I think the wheels are the standard 17".

POST 29Original post

Zenith is pretty unusual - one of those colors that looks different depending how it catches the light. Touches of purple and blue. Great color -- enjoy the car!!

POST 30Original post

The wheels on DL's beautiful Zenith 996 are 17" "Cast wheels", 7" and 9". The wheels on Wellardmac's lovely white 996 appear to be 18" "Turbo-Looks", 7.5" & 10".

POST 32Original post
