Suggestion

If you want to get these ebay wheels (knock-offs) check some of their other posts to see if they have the 10" with 58mm to 65mm offsets, which would fit on a narrow body car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking to upgrade my wheels/tires from the stock 17" to nicer looking 18" wheels. In addition to normal street driving, I'll be tracking them maybe 6 times a year (DE's). I found a seller on Ebay who sells clones that are made in Italy. The wheels that interest me are linked below. What do you guys think or know about this seller and/or wheels. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-PO...95832846QQrdZ1 I know. I know. Stick with OEM or BBS, etc.. However, those wheels will set me back somewhere from 3 to 5 grand, which I find difficult to justify.

POST 2Original post

The wheels are knockoffs...they are made with less quailty, weigh more, and may or may not fit properly...they wil NOT fit like stock 18" wheels because the offsets are WAY OFF....The stock offset for the 996 is 18x8 et 52 (?) and 18x10 et 65. So its about whats important to you...the look or performance/quality/fit....you can get used takeoffs for usually the same price as new knockoffs....I get a set of OEM 997 19" wheels for $650....

POST 3Original post

I'm happy with the knock-offs I got from Wheel Enhancement. They are heavy (5-6lb heavier than OE), but they look good, fit right, and are cheap. You can find their website, or find them on eBay. I got the Turbo look wheels in narrow-body sizes (18x8/10) with MPSCs mounted for $2050 shipped. Not sure how much they would've been without the tires.

POST 4Original post

im selling two turbo twist 18in knock off (just the rear) for 200 buck just check out my thread for details

POST 5Original post

Those are nice wheels....but they're a bitch to keep clean.

POST 6Original post

The rear wheels with 47mm offset are for wide bodied cars like the C4S & Turbo. If you want to get these ebay wheels (knock-offs) check some of their other posts to see if they have the 10" with 58mm to 65mm offsets, which would fit on a narrow body car. Since you are in Cali, you might want to check with Wheel Enhancement to see what "take-offs" (as opposed to knowk-offs) they have in stock. Like Newport said, you might be able to get some OEM "take-offs" for a decent price.

POST 8Original post

Here are similar wheels from a different seller. These have 50mm front and 65mm rear offsets. I have no affiliatioin with the seller and I know nothing about the quality of the wheels. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem

POST 9Original post

450, Just make sure to ask the seller (you can call the guy) for the ET65 rear offsets which is identical to the stock wheel. He has them. I asked. -Paul

POST 10Original post

I just got new wheels and am selling my OEM 18" wheels if you are interested. They come with Michelin Pilot Sports with about 85-90% tread left on them. They look exactly like the attached pic. I can send actual pictures. There are some minor nicks and scratches on the lip, and my wheel guy said that they are a piece of cake to repair, and a lot of people repair them at home with the original Wurth spray paint. Anyway, let me know if interested.

POST 12Original post

I feel your pain to spend that amount for wheels that inevitably get rashed anyway. For about $1k, I went with a set of BSA's which are light (20lb/24lb) and look great on my 9964S.

POST 14Original post

Did you get the 10 spoke ones? How do you like them? Mine finally arrived after waiting 7.5 weeks for them to arrive. I just have to pick them up tomorrow and put them on the car. Did you get the rears that are flush or the ones with a lip?

POST 18Original post

Mine finally arrived today after a 7.5 week wait. Ijust installed them and tooke my baby for a shakedown cruise. The tires weren't even dressed!

POST 22Original post

Et 40 in the rear? WOW, that surprises me! I thought 40mm offset would extend past the fender. Do you have a pic from behind the car looking straight down the side?

POST 23Original post

I'll take one tomorrow, but it is flush with the fender.

POST 25Original post

Tim my thoughts exactly. An 18x10 ET40 sits exactly 8mm further out than the max that Porsche reccommends on NB 996s. (Stock 10" wheel with a 17mm spacer). From the current pics it looks really close.. hard to tell. Looking forward to the additional pics to see. However, there is still No way to make the Turbo rear wheel work in either ET 40 or ET 45 because they are usually 11" and that extra inch is 25mm.

POST 26Original post

I love the BSA wheels. Where do you buy them? And how much do they typically run?

POST 27Original post

I thought the same thing. Then I saw pics of the wheels on the seller's 993 and they looked fine in the rear. That is when I committed to the purchase. It is still very close to the fenderline. I'm running 265s and doubt I can get 285s within the fender.

POST 28Original post

Yep, that is spot on. Good one for you. Looks very nice.

POST 29Original post

I got them off ebay from a seller who didn't like the look. I think you can get a set for @ $700 plus shipping. However, I'm not sure if the et40 rears are still available. The ads I've seen are only for the et60 no lip rears.

POST 30Original post

Thanks for the additional pics. The wheels look GREAT! I love the lip on the rear wheels. I would have thought that a 40mm offset on a 10" wheel would cause the wheel to stick out beyond the fender. You may be right, the 265 tires may be helping in this situation. I guess my 295 rear tires wouldn't do too well on those wheels.

POST 31Original post

For 295s, I could always get an extra pair of rears w/o the lip!

POST 33Original post

Slaaw - The BSA 215a wheels look AWESOME! Do your wheels have the ridges running down the length of each spoke or are the spokes flat with just a small ridge at the outer end of each spoke? Can you post a couple of close up pics of your wheels.

POST 35Original post

Slaaw's wheels doesn't have the ridge in the middle of each spoke.

POST 36Original post

The reason I like Slaaw's wheels is becaust they look like my favorite wheels, the Kineses F110's.

POST 37Original post

The ridges are at the outer ends of the spokes.

POST 38Original post

Thanks for the reply and double-thanks for posting the pic. Nice wheels, man! Is that Lapis?

POST 39Original post

Yeah you're right, they do look like F110 but at a fraction of the cost. I say if you find some, don't hesitate and get them.

POST 40Original post

Slaaw, where did you get them from? Those look perfect for the 4S. What's the size and offset for your C4S? Are they hubcentric? Are you using spacers? Thanks.

POST 41 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those ARE nice. Are they heavy? What about price?

POST 42Original post

18 x 8 = 20 lbs 18 x 10 = 24 lbs Well, that's what one of the ebay sellers listed for chrome wheels.

POST 43Original post

You expect us to trust a cave man? But seriously, I like your wheels and almost any 5-spoke wheel because they're easier to clean. I had a BMW recently with 20-spoke wheels...they looked good, but I hated the chore of cleaning them!

POST 44Original post

Some gratuitous pics of the BSAs on a Spring drive this afternoon.

POST 45Original post

Gotta love Hawaii... nice backdrop. Are you on stock suspension? Nice wheels.
