I replaced my CD holder with the tray, which is much more useful.

There's nothing more beautiful than a perfectly clean black Porsche.

I see you followed proper protocol without being hounded by Tim...any plans on changing the name to 996nut?

997nut - You could replace the tape holder with an upper storage tray for about $35 at your P-car dealer.

oh well, first step when I get back is get the VR4 running properly, possibly buy my buddy's CBR F4i, then hopefully the 996 C2 will follow in the Fall/Winter, when the prices are nice and low

Suggestion
A suggestion on the trim rings: perhaps post a message on some of the boxster forums, as the boxster pods only use three rings, but from what I could tell when I owned my boxster, most guage ring kits come with five.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi eveyone,
I have to start off by saying that this site is awesome. There is so much helpful information here and I have learned a lot from spending time on these threads. I have been lurking for a while and finally became a member. So let's start with some specs of the P-car.
2002 996 C2
40k Miles
Black on Dark Blue (almost looks black)
PSM
Carbon Fiber goodies (Door Sills, Dash, etc)
6-speed
I have had the car for about 6 months now and have the mod bug. From what I hear on rennlist, B&M SSK, Fabspeed exhaust or muffler bypass pipe, and EVOMS or K&N intake is the way to go to start....Let me know if I missed anything.
I know you guys are looking for some pics so here they are. They were taken with a horrible camera so I apologize in advance for the low quality pictures or my picture taking skills.

997nut - Welcome to Rennlist. Congrats on getting the car! Thanks for posting the pics and for the car info. I also noticed that your are a Member.
I guess since you posted pics I can't harass you about posting some. Man, I'm going to forget how to harass the "newbies" if they keep posting pics right from the start.
I noticed that you are missing the outer-most aluminum gauge rings. Maybe the PO couldn't get them to fit after he added the CF gauge surround? Another mod you may want to consider is adding Aluminum pedals. They look nice and break up the dark recesses of the foot well.
Nice looking P-car! Again, Welcome!
Welcome! Love your CF interior upgrade, very nice... As Gota911 mentioned, the 2 outer rings are missing in the gauge cluster, but on the other hand you do have the hazard-button Alu-ring and probably the ignition switch ring as well, right? Nicely done...
Cheers,
-Bao.
Thank you all for the great compliments and suggestions! I am glad to be here. I was going to post without any pics but knew I would get torn a new one by many members..hahaha. I told myself that my C2 was going to be my weekend car...man was I wrong. I can't drive anything else. It just doesn't feel the same. I often make excuses for me to leave the house just to go for a drive. Is this normal?
The PO spent some $$$ on the CF upgrade's, alum ignition and hazard button. This helped in making my decision because it looked so good. The funny thing is when I saw the alum dash kit first; I thought it only came with the 3 rings instead of 5. I noticed after that it is missing 2 rings. I don't know if I could justify spending around $100 for a whole kit just for 2 rings. Maybe I can find the missing rings on here??? I also thought about Alum pedals but wondered if my foot would keep slipping off...I don't know if this is a problem you guys have.
You can get aluminum pedals with or without the round rubber inserts. My aluminum pedals do not have the rubber inserts and my feet don't slip off of the pedals.
Now, before anyone says....
here is a pic of my pedals.
I added the aluminum pedals and they are a MUST...changes the complete look of the car EVERY time you get in and out. No problems with slippage...of course, I ONLY drive my P when it is dry. I have only put 4,500 miles in a year and a half of ownership...she gets babied!
997nut... you lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky man!!!
so good to see all these new owners join, can't wait til the day I do as well, especially considering I'm gonna be without a car for 5 months by the time I get back from Vienna, that ANY car would be nice, but a 996 would just be heaven
oh well, first step when I get back is get the VR4 running properly, possibly buy my buddy's CBR F4i, then hopefully the 996 C2 will follow in the Fall/Winter, when the prices are nice and low
It is a tape holder in a 2002! I couldn't believe it either. I guess the PO just couldn't let go of the old cassettes and get into CD's. I haven't decided what to do on the stereo install yet. Maybe touch screen/flush mount unit which would get rid of the tape holders since AC/Heat switches would go there. I will keep everyone posted...
997nut - You could replace the tape holder with an upper storage tray for about $35 at your P-car dealer. I replaced my CD holder with the tray, which is much more useful.
Welcome. Awesome car. A suggestion on the trim rings: perhaps post a message on some of the boxster forums, as the boxster pods only use three rings, but from what I could tell when I owned my boxster, most guage ring kits come with five. Maybe you could find some boxster owners with a few extra rings they could give you. Try ppbb.com and list in the wanted section...some great guys over there.
I will check out the local dealer this week sometime for the upper storage tray...Thanks Tim.
Great idea ScottArizona! I just posted in the wanted section @ ppbb.com for 2 rings. I hope I will have some luck.
