Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The dimmer switch can be replaced provided that it's just the switch part that's broken.
Leading evidence: 'Replace provided' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust brightness of the instrument cluster still' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

They told me they are not getting many new cars from the factory, so I guess get some pretty weird used cars to fill the void.

So, are you saying you can adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster still?

First thing I have to do is clean off the shiny goop they put on the interior.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, the anticipation is over, My tripple black '02 cab was delivered Sunday Night. All is as promised, big SEG for me.
Thanks to all for wise advice, it was all helpful.
Only pictures I have are from dealer, more later. First thing I have to do is clean off the shiny goop they put on the interior. That steering wheel is slippery. Why do dealers like to put this crap on ?????????
Dont know what that green thing is.
Believe it or not this was shot at the largest Lamborhini dealer in the country. They told me they are not getting many new cars from the factory, so I guess get some pretty weird used cars to fill the void. Hard to imagine someone cross shopping from a Lambo to that alien thing. Also hard to imagine that except for some of the odd used cars they have, my P-car is a low end sale for them. hahahahaha
They had 6 or 7 new Lambo's on the floor and every single one of them was sold.
The used car inventory is def. out there. The Green and Orange car are Mazda Portege tuner / show cars that were custom built. Not really my taste but neat cars none the less. Check out their used car inventory...it's quite an interesting collection.

Gentlemen! That there is a Lincoln Continental Mark IV. The ultimate personal luxury car for the nineteen seventies.
Ooooooh baby. That is one sweet ride. You'll never feel a thing, rides like a cloud.
And there is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much shiny crap on that black car. Good gravy, you weren't kidding! The only thing worse than that crap all over the interior is too much tire dressing, sprayed liberally all over the wheel to pick up every bit of brake dust, and then to fling the extra dressing all over the side of the car. ack.
If you haven't already, get some Griot's interior cleaner (

. This stuff is awesome, cleans up everything, doesn't hurt the leather, doesn't smell, doesn't leave a residue and I have yet found something that it cannot clean up.
Oh, and congrats on the new car!
Michael
congrats and thanks for posting a pic...... looks sweet.... now time to mod.....
oh the slippery thing makes the steering wheel looks cool.......... that 's why they put them on....
+1
I have savanna beige interior, and it (Interior cleaner) did a fantastic job on the carpet, even after it was professionally detailed/cleaned at the dealer. Sprayed on, brushed in (amazing difference, removed all spots), then wiped with a white rag which promptly turned BROWN!
Absolutely beautiful car... but whoever put that slippery junk all over the interior should be beaten with their own shoes.
Let the modding begin.
First mod will probably be to fill with mobile 0w40, just to **** off you know who (voldemort)
Actually first mod will be B&M short shift kit. I dont think I will do exhaust, I had a fabspeed on my '01 coupe, and it was on the edge loud wise (I guess I am becoming an old fart) so I think it might be over the edge on a cab, at least for me. As far as CAI, I would like to but I will never do use a K&N again. There was a study done some years ago by one of the major trucking firms comparing K&N to normal filter (I think it was Penske, but not sure). They ran for whatever period they normally run before teardown and rebuild. Although fuel economy was better, engine wear was much worse. Apparently in letting through more air, the K&N lets through more dirt. NO I do not have a link to the study, this is from memory, please do not flame me. Anyone remember the study. I do like the idea of a 997 air box, looks better, and looks like it has a larger inlet pipe.
Oh yeah the PO POed me. The control for dash board brightness is broken off flush with the panel. Anyone know if the switch can be replaced seperately or if you need to replace whole dash. If so, I will take it appart and machine something up. Maybe turn a new shaft and an aluminum **** for both sides.
The dimmer switch can be replaced provided that it's just the switch part that's broken. If the shaft is no longer connected, the whole instrument cluster needs to be replaced. Try using a pair of needle nose pliers and flashlight. Find the shaft stub and turn it a bit one way and the other. See if the dimmer responds. If it does not, you probably need an instrument cluster. It's about $2,200.00. If it responds, you just need a new switch which is relatively cheap.
Fortunately, my Porsche dealer advised me to replace mine under warranty. I had no clue and had been putting off the repair. I figured it was a $5 job.
Thanks, but I dont understand. In my case, the switch seems to work, but the plastic shaft is broken off flush with the hole. Of course the **** is missing too. I will try the needl nose pliars thing, great Idea, why didnt I think of that ......
So, are you saying you can adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster still? If that's the case, that's good news. Probably just a plastic switch replacement. You can find instructions on this forum for how to pull the instrutment cluster out. I believe you have to remove the steering wheel but that's cake. Just remember to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes before you start.
