Unlike GOLs testing, this one is testing jammers already installed on cars belonging to some of my colleagues or their friends.

Dont waste your $$$$ on the Blinder...SML (Speed Measure Lab's) are on the take from blinder and I have tested the Blinder on different cars and trucks with different laser guns and the Blinder did not perform as advertised by blinder.

I have purchased and used Lidatek LE30's in the recent past and they seemed to work reasonably well.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the opportunity to put together a group purchase on the Blinder X-treme M20 and M40 laser jammers if people are interested. I have recently purchased a 2002 996 C4 Cabriolet and having this type of countermeasure in my other cars, I feel naked driving around without one. I have purchased and used Lidatek LE30's in the recent past and they seemed to work reasonably well. But when I did some research on how well the different laser countermeasures really worked, I was a bit taken aback by the results that I found. While the Lidatek LE30 has worked effectively for me so far (2 actual saves), the testing revealed that it had a jam rate of only 39%! Not very confidence inspiring. The same test revealed a jam rate of 92% for the Blinder X-Treme. That is much more reassuring. These results are from a 2005 evaluation, but I think the Blinder unit has been top rated since at least 2003. You can read about the test methodology and results at:

The information in the two web sites is presented from the same data, just in a slightly different format.
The first site is Speed Measurement Labs' site and the second is a company that sells detectors and jammers. I don't believe that Speed Measurement Labs sells any products. Rather, they are a consulting , training, and testing company that works with both the equipment manufacturers and police departments. A strange arrangement, but they seem to make it work. I met Carl Fors of SML at a national NSX event in 1998 where he brought along a laser gun for participants to hold and use to measure the speed of random cars going down the road near the headquarter hotel. I seem to remember his assertion at that time was that laser detection is next to useless and that active jamming is the only solution.
That was when lasers were not all that common around the country. Now they are everywhere.
Another test of different laser countermeasures is here:

With my personal experiences, I'm sold on the concept. And now I've got the opportunity to put together a group buy for these top-rated units at an unbeatable price, so I thought I'd try to pass along the benefits (I'm also taking advantage of this discounted price, FYI). I'm not trying to sell this particular unit on anyone. I know that other units can work (and you can see which ones don't work at all in the above tests). However, if you've been interested in getting this particular brand of laser countermeasure, but were waiting for the right deal to come along, then this may be a great time to jump in.
I can get the Blinder X-Treme M20 (2 transponders for front mounting only) or the Blinder X-Treme M40 (2 transponders for the front and 2 transponders for the rear of a car or you can put all 4 transponders on the front of a large vehicle) to you at a greatly reduced price.
Blinder X-Treme M20 = $255 (list $349) + Priority Mail shipping of $10 to lower 48 US only
Blinder X-Treme M40 = $440 (list $599) + Priority Mail shipping of $15 to lower 48 US only
At this price, all I can do is checks/money order/cashiers checks. If someone wants to offer their merchant account to run credit cards through, I'd be willing to work with you. But I'd be charged about 3% and that seems kinda steep to me. Then again, if the majority of people would rather just go ahead and suck up the 3% charge for the convenience of using a credit card, I guess I can accept that through Paypal.
I'm not a dealer, just a user of products. And, in fact, I have not used this one personally myself. But I have read the reviews and they are extremely encouraging. In comparison, I think the 2 transponder Lidatek LE30 would set me back $599 today.
Full disclosure. I'm organizing this group buy, in part, to take advantage of what I consider to be a great deal. I'm looking to cover costs with a small overage for contingencies like extra postage/packaging fees or need for returns, telephone calls, etc. Laser countermeasures are illegal in the states of California, District of Columbia, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia. This list may not be comprehensive, but was apparently accurate in 2004.

These units are being sourced through an authorized Blinder channel and will include the full one year warranty and their unique 1 year ticket refund program. Frankly, Im not sure how the ticket refund program works. Ill get details shortly. For me, at least, thats not a significant factor.
If you're interested in this group buy, please respond here and e-mail me at: "auctions at m-powered dot com" and I'll put you on the list. Once we get critical mass, we'll discuss payment and shipping options. For this first round, I'm going to try to limit it to 24 units as this is my first time trying something like this. If it is popular, I'll put out a second round - assuming I don't have to suck up a bunch of unexpected expenses.
Best wishes,
David Hwang
(P.S. I OK'd this group buy with John already)
Whoa Dave! Easy on the novel'esqe threads. In all seriousness though, not sure how many bites you'll get for a product like this though but nice job on putting a group buy together. Best of luck to ya!
The current listing: Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington DC. But these things change.
Active radar jammers (the only ones with a prayer of being effective) are illegal in all 50 states, as they are regulated by the FCC.
Laser jammers are not federally restricted, but some individual states have restricted your rights in their jurisdictions.
Traffic lasers are regulated, interestingly enough, by the FDA which doesn't really have anything to say about the transmission of these frequencies in non-medical applications.
David
As promised, here is a little more information about the speeding ticket reimbursement program. Not completely air tight, but it is something. But, like I said, I don't think I'd select this product over any other because of this feature.

David
why is the K40 laser jammer not included in these tests?
I have K40 jammer on my front plate and it seems to work, but most NYS police seem to use radar (k band) , instead of laser.
The K40 jammer also has a 1year ticket reimbursement policy.
Anyone have any thoughts on the K40 jammers versus the blinder?
So what will be the situation if you do not get 24 people to commit?.....Will you still be in a position to purchase the units at the price you stated?
Probably. More as the situation unfolds. Right now I only have one. If I only get a couple of people interested, it's probably not going to work out. But I do not need anywhere near 24 to get this price to you. I am just trying to limit my downside.

Dont waste your $$$$ on the Blinder...SML (Speed Measure Lab's) are on the take from blinder and I have tested the Blinder on different cars and trucks with different laser guns and the Blinder did not perform as advertised by blinder. For the K40 question and why its not in the test because K40 has never worked in any test and the K40 sue's any company to bads mouths and proves that the K40 doesnt work. Btw the Blinder does work better then the K40 but Blinder still is a weak performer and only does ok against the Prolaser III and OK is not great in the laser jammer business.
I'm not looking to buy one but I'm pretty sure all my buddies with high hp supras swear with a V1 and Blinder combo....as do many of the 996TT folks. From their experiences, I'd say the Blinder is a very good unit.
Blinder was ok back in the day but if you goto the Blinder website it always says it jam's 100% of the guns in use. That is a very untrue statement by Blinder. The Blinder's top of the line M40 Xtreme doesnt jam as well as advertised either. I have tested the Blinder M20 (1/2 of the M40) on different cars and it really didnt do that well. The Blinder is on alot of websites as the Top Dog but actually performs as a poodle compared to the the better Diode laser jammers. I posted a test that I was involved with with a Bmw and Audi with the Blinder M20 and a Bmw Z4 with a LPP and the Bmw's laser jammer dominated the Blinder M20 system. You will be able to see how far the Blinder was picked off and that is not good for the Blinder product.
Here are the results again and these are very constant results of either jammer. You can put all 4 heads of the Blinder M40 against the Laser Park Pro's 1 jammer head the the LPP will out perform the Blinder M40 by 1,000's of feet.
Unlike GOLs testing, this one is testing jammers already installed on cars belonging to some of my colleagues or their friends. I have no clue on when some of them were bought/installed, these guys just wanted to know what kind of performance they can expect. No videos this time. Sad
The LTI Marksman and Kustom ProLaser III/Lite are used in this state. Oregon/British Columbia/Idaho, our neighbouring states/provinces, have a wider variety. I haven't been able to get my hands on a ProLaser III, this test is with an LTI Marksman.
A couple of others with an SRX and Lidatek couldn't be there - one cancelled at last minute, the other couldn't make it.
Vehicles and Laser Countermeasures:

- 2005 Audi A4 Silver sedan w/ Blinder Xtreme M20 (front) - 02/2007
- 2005 BMW Z4 Dark Blue convertible (no front license plate) w/ Laser Pro Park 8.3 (SW v10.1) Dual head - bought 01/2007
(all jammer sales from authorized dealers)
Lidar gun:
LTI Marksman 20/20 with 2X Scope (this gun stops xmitting once it gets speed lock or an error code)
- Shoot anywhere to get speed lock (plate, headlights, fog lights, grille)
- Regular shooting style is to press trigger until speed lock or error code from lidar gun requiring retrigger (note: not the 'jammer interference' error code)
- QT indicates quick triggering (approx 0.25-1.0 second trigger press) to get speed lock
Results:
- Speed lock distances in feet
- Sometimes distances being read out were too fast to note down, so just the unknown digits are marked with 'xx'
- Starting point was about 2200' away
