Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know there are a whole gaggle of ex-pat Brits on this forum, so this is potentially huge news for us - and great news for US steak sauce lovers! I found HP sauce for sale in my local Vons yesterday! Yes, the original, with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament on the label (Hence the name HP). It's being made by HP foods offshoot, Lea and Perrins, in the USA, and is labeled 'new improved recipe original steak sauce' . So I gave it a test drive last night - on a nice cheese sandwich Tastes good, slightly more spicy even. Just so happy I don't have to ask visitors from Blighty to smuggle it like contraband in their luggage, or pay the local HP Sauce pushers here in the US their jacked-up prices. If you are someone who loves their steak or BBQ, and have never tried HP - give it a try. It's the Original !

POST 2Original post

I still have 2 bottles of the old brown sauce in my kitchen, but good to know! Now I just need to convince the local supermarket to stock Hienze Baked Beans again..........it was one glorious year of beans on toast, then nothing.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now you're talking! A feel a trip to the Brit shop in Carlsbad coming on - to buy me some overpriced British bacon to go with my US HP Sauce.... Some how those Brit food pimps still get to take my money! Oh well, may as well give-in and buy some sausage rolls while I'm there, to make the trip worth while

POST 5Original post

There's also two British shops in Redondo Beach (one opposite my place, next to the curry house ) and a couple just north of Anaheim.

POST 6Original post

I also tried the new improved recipe a few weeks - but (to me) it still does not taste the same as the UK version

POST 7Original post

I see HP on a 996 forum and immediately think "Horse Power". Damn Brits and their weird fetishes.

POST 8Original post

Yeah, yeah... This from the country that gave the world peanut butter and jelly?

POST 10Original post

I agree, it doesn't taste the same... it's been available on the east coast for several years... I got all excited and bought some and wasn't too impressed... I stil get my HP Fruity imported. No comments on the fruity unless you've tried it! The local grocery stores (part of Albertson's) stock the blue label stuff, but I've never been a fan of that.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe we should do a group buy on the UK HP?

POST 12Original post

I will be in the UK in about 4 weeks I have an empty Road case I can load up. As I pass thru the US on tour you guys could grab bottles or cases from me let me know free shipping!!! And you could see a good show as well....

POST 13Original post

speaking of random stuff from across the pond.....any of you gents want to tell me what exactly vegemite/marmite is..what it tasts like..and why my friend might be obcesed with this stuff..sounds like a british equivalent of america's beloved 'SPAM' meat in a can

POST 14Original post

Vegamite is YEAST PASTE it is not very tasty but if you grew up on it. It is like peanut butter to Americans. Try it they sell it in the states at specialty stores. Cheers..

POST 17Original post

...oh yeah, and I forgot, Australians eat it too, but they might be one in the same

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's right! Marmite is the original and genuine spread - made from left over brewing yeast - the poor candidate is Vegamite They are about to launch a limited edition Guinness flavored version in the UK I hear! It has a very strong taste, salty, meaty yeasty. Spread it on bread and butter or on buttered toast. http://www.marmite.co.uk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite You either love it or hate it - no in between. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! "25% of British people take Marmite with them when they go on holiday"

POST 19Original post

Can we start again talking about German cars? I don't think that too many that are not from the island consider the British cuisine as very mouth-watering.

POST 20Original post

what? you dont like steak and kindey pie, blood pudding, fish and chips, spotted dick?

POST 21Original post

Yeah, you're just jealous of our fabulous British food...

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 24Original post

Have you guy's forgotten MUSHY PEAS or Heinz Beans with breakfast!!

POST 25Original post

Sorry, no, the student staple of cheese on toast with Heinz beans.

POST 26Original post

In Prague we have Tescos and Marks and Spencer now, so I can get most things now. Never been to the states but I imagine with the mixed population there it must be good for eating, especially as most Americans weigh too much haha.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Way to go insulting a whole nation!

POST 28Original post

Yeah, no kidding! The next time he has a problem with his car, I'm sure he is going to get a lot of help from the "lard asses" here in the U.S.!
