I took the car back to the dealership where a technician went through the install to make sure that everything was installed properly.

Restocking fees are charged for people that just return something becasue they don't like what they bought or changed their mind.

If the system should ever have a problem, the original purchaser must send the systems back to Fabspeed for inspection and Fabspeed will repair, fix, or replace as required determined by Fabspeeds technical staff.

I ordered them from a dealer out of state and when they arrived they looked damaged (dents, dusty, etc.) I called and they sent a new set out IMMEDIATELY with a return label to send the return set back in the box the news ones came in.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In my case their mufflers did not work as advertised and I belief that FS has done good for me.
I couple of weeks ago I purchased a set of Fabspeed Mufflers for my 05 C4S. I had a local dealership install them. Immediately after the install I noticed an annoying vibration/resonance within the cabin of the car. This occured at around 2K rpm. I took the car back to the dealership where a technician went through the install to make sure that everything was installed properly. They even drove the car and noticed the same. I called Fabspeed and spoke with Jay. He told me to drive the car some more and if the condition persisted to let him know. Three weeks later the vibration did not diminish. I spoke with Jay again and after speaking with the technician himself agreed to take the mufflers back and give me a full refund minus a re-stocking fee. They took the mufflers back with no more questions asked. I wish there were more people in this industry with the same philosophy.
i agree ..... manny i think you were taken.. if their product did not work they shouldn't charge you a restocking fee... they should apologize take it back and resend a new one or refund you fully with NO restocking fee... i don't know why most of these places have the ***** to charge you money to take back something if they gave you a defective products... what's up with that...? i m glad you were okay and happy with their service.. i think i would have reacted a little different....
WTF are you giving compliments to somebody that charges a re-stocking fee for a defective product. Restocking fees are charged for people that just return something becasue they don't like what they bought or changed their mind. And even then, the re-stocking fee is negotiable. I wouldn't be giving thumbs up at all.
I had the same type of experiece with my PSE cans. I ordered them from a dealer out of state and when they arrived they looked damaged (dents, dusty, etc.) I called and they sent a new set out IMMEDIATELY with a return label to send the return set back in the box the news ones came in. That's service.
Next time post here for impressions. I could have save you a ton of hassle as others could and told you about the resonance at 2K. But I gotta ask, why are you lugging the engine around at 2K... rev that thing already, it is what it likes. Are you seriously driving around at 55 mph in 6th?
ahha. look what the bobbins in the back just did!! Of course now the whole 1st post thing above makes zero sense. I am whole again!. Thanks Jen the admin
Manny G - Newbie... Newbie... Newbie!
What can I say, or more accurately, where do I start? First, you should have asked us "what should I so about this situation...?"
Fabspeed Motorsports is a Rennlist Sponsor. The LAST thing they want is bad publicity on Rennlist. While your intent was for it to be a positive posting about Fabspeed, most of us here don't see it that way. I would not let this one die. You should contact Fabspeed again this time talk to the Head Honcho (I don't know his name) to see if you can get the restocking fee refunded to you. You might want to mention that you posted your experience here and that the overwhelming response to your post was NOT positive. I would be willing to bet that they will make it right.
After you talk to Fabspeed, please let us know what the outcome of your conversation was.
BTW Guys, Manny and I have already had the "Post a Pic" discussion, and he came through with flying colors (RED)! Here is his Pic Post!
https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...9&postcount=15
... and you guys thought I was kidding about "keeping a list" on the Newbies!
Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. After reading your comments I will definitely contact Fabspeed and ask for a full refund. To answere Paul 996...have you ever been in Miami traffic at around 6:00 pm. I would be lucky to go at 55 mph down the Palmetto Expressway. What is normally a 20 min. commute from office to home takes about one hour in the evenings.
Will keep you guys posted on what Fabspeed does.
First I think Joe is the head guy and Oh boy....talk about self indulgent listing
OK Tim, we know you are keeeeping a list. The question is which list am
I
on
I had exactly the same issue with the fabspeeds that I purchased
Difference was I nearly choked on my coffee when i was told about the restocking fee.
I promptly threatened them with a Amex dispute and they refunded the whole amount.
Still out the 2 way delivery cost and the installation.
At least the car doesn't sound like a mooing cow now a 'cowerra'
Manny
sorry about the misunderstanding.

Actually, in your product video, you clearly mention there is no resonance...
I quote: "No resonance whatsoever" about the 3:50 mark.
PRODUCT VIDEO: 996 Maxflo Muffler
thanks,
Amir
I wont be buying any Fabspeed stuff....you guys shafted him....plain and simple...If it states no resonance and there is resonance the he and the technician noticed, then you should give him a FULL refund and pay for the shipping....He paid to have your product installed, called you guys immediately, you told him to drive it and see if it changes. (typical) When it didnt, you charged him a restocking fee for your products inferiority, even though it states in your literature there is no resonance. I am in the market for a new exhaust but i will scratch Fabspeed off of my list.
restocking fee is bs any way you slice it. honestly your product did not fuction as stated. I too am in the market for a new exhaust and no way will I consider your system if that is the level of service I should expect. The customer acted in good faith. He should not have to pay for shipping them back to you either.
regardless if the customer is always right... you sold a product that did not live up to "INDUSTRY STANDARD" as you stated......if it has resonance, so state it, and if it resonance and when you said it doesn't, you should be liable for the refund and the cost incurred by the customer based on your own advertisement......... so that's a full refund, cost of install, cost of shipping, and a letter of apology for your poorly stated advertisement......
Can someone please change the title of this thread from: "Thumbs UP to Fabspeed Motorsports" to "Thumbs DOWN to Fabspeed Motorsports"; I think the consensus on the responses require this.
PS: I did also take Fabspeed of my exhaust shopping list.
I'm not in the market for new exhaust, just did 3.6 MKII mod, but I know someone that is and will tell him to stay away from Fabspeed. I'll recommend the 3.6 mod or the real PSE
After a lot of recommendation of Fabspeed exhaust and seeing some video on it I would have recommended it.
BUT NOT NOW... THIS IS BS
I guess I'll jump on the wagon and "scratch Fabspeed off the list." I've dealt with them in the past and wasn't overly impressed, but this takes the cake.
like a slow-motion car crash, this thread. what a PR nightmare.
dunno if i'm reading fabspeed's post correctly, but is he conceding that the resonance was a valid defect/warranty issue or suggesting it was a matter of subjective dislike, hence the restocking fee despite their alleged goodwill in taking it back?
i think Fabspped PR needs to chime in.... every hour, their reputation is dropping..... Rennlist IS a very Viable and popular site for Porsche owners........ DO THE RIGHT THING FABSPEED..........
He is stating that there was nothing wrong with the exhaust and its characteristics are subjective so they are charging a restocking fee because to them resonance is subjective.....Even though their literature states there is NO resonance.
Hello Everyone - Good News !!! After reading the first couple of responses to my post, I decided to contact FS motorsports first thing this morning. I spoke with Jay Rothfeld, VP for FS. After relating all the issues to Jay, he immediately agreed and provided a 100% refund and faxed me confirmation of the same.
Guys all my dealings with FS have been very friendly and professional. At the same time that I purchased the mufflers, I also purchased a set of headers and let me tell you that I have seen headers from B&B and Schnell and their quality does not compare to that of FS. One of the reasons for me going to FS in the first place was the recommendations of some of my friends and information posted on the net. As a matter of fact the dealership that installed the mufflers also sells FS products and before my case had no negative feedback from
other customers. In my case their mufflers did not work as advertised and I belief that FS has done good for me. I would not hesitate to use them again.
Thanks all for your feedback. It really helped!!!
Manny
Very welcome Manny! That help is one of the biggest reasons so many ofus have joined this site. The measly $18 to contribute to keep the site going has more than come back to me in all the money this board has saved me.
well then.... i guess all the bitching was worth something....... happy it worked out for you....... although i can't help but pat myself in the back....
Steven - as you have probably guessed I am keeping multiple lists (aren't databases a hoot?) and NOT just of the Newbies.
You, my friend, are on a couple of the lists. All of the lists that you are on would be defined as the POSITIVE lists.
Rest assured that you are NOT on the TROLL, BLOWHARD, or A$$-HOLE lists... well at least MOST of the time.
Manny - I'm glad this worked out for you. I am pleased that we helped persuade you to contact FS again.
I think understanding which party has more to lose is an often overlooked aspect of "negotiating." Clearly, FS stood to lose much more than the restocking fee they charged you, and the fact that they are a Rennlist Sponsor, the "power of the people" (other posters comments) probably helped them make the RIGHT decision in this instance.
Congrats on becoming a Member of Rennlist! Now lets talk about posting a few New Member Pics! Just kidding! There is no such requirement," but. that does give me some new ideas!
Sorry, sometimes I have difficulty posting an entirely serious comment.
