Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought it new on ebay...again...lol...like $300 un installed with the crest on it...I think its this one:

I used the silicone recommended in the instructions.

I have one set on the 911 that are metal and aluminum in color.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Notice a variety of aluminum guage rings for sale ranging in different prices. $99-$189.
Does the rule apply here.. you pay for what you get?
Is there a difference in quality? If so, where is the best place to buy them?
Appreciate the advice
I can't speak for what I didn't buy, but the ones from the Bumper Plugs guy are quite good. Metal, not plastic, flawless finish, perfect fit, nice match to the other metallic surfaces in the car. I doubt you'd be disappointed.
i have the same question... they range in prices like crazy..... anyone with a bad one that likes to chime in so we can avoid them....? oh yeah, which is nicer the alum look or the silver (artic) look?
That would actually be my next mod, and I've been checking out this item on ebay. It looks kinda a little too shiny here, I prefer the brushed aluminum or titanium finish like the OEM ones (door handles, etc.)in the car.
EBAY
What do you guys think? Any recommendations?
well... when i look at the earlier model porsche's with the alum look... they look nice and more classy.... so i might just get those instead.. but it won't match the interior if i decided to do the center console... etc......
Here is a pic of my aluminum rings...I think I got them from NR Auto, Lucent had the same ones as well...get them from Lucent, good guys...great to deal with....Mine are a pretty good match for the rest of the aluminum in my car and they have held up very well....easy to install as well....
I bought it new on ebay...again...lol...like $300 un installed with the crest on it...I think its this one:
Ruf Style steering wheeel
Its the same as the Ruf steering wheel without Ruf on the airbag...
Ruf Steering wheel
I think the OEM manufacturer for all of them is Raid-RDI or Atiwe-RDI

Gemballa is also the same design as well......
Got mine from Eric at Bumperplugs... perfect match with the interior silver. Highly recommended!

I have one set on the 911 that are metal and aluminum in color. I just got a set from Eric at Bumperplugs for the Boxster. Great looking set that looks dead on Arctic Silver.
I got mine from bumperplugs and it's a perfect match with my interior
i posted a bunch of pics a while back

Bought mine from vertex when they were having their christmas sale. Paid 80.00 with free shipping. Lowest price I have seen yet. Now the bad. The silver color had a blotchy look, and the metalics were too large. I shot them with an aluminum color spray can paint and they look much better. The aluminum rings did fit very well though. So for a little work I still got my moneys worth.
I got mine from Eric at Bumperplugs but haven't put them on yet. What did you guys use (specifically) to adhere them to the guage? I have some Scotch double sided 3M tape but don't now if that is going to adhere to aluminium.
Got mine from Maxspeed on Ebay. They are aluminum and painted silver and match the rest of the silver trim in my interior quite well. As for installation, I used carpet tape. What I like about it is that it is very thin, thinner then the dual sided tape provided, and sticks much better.
My first mod, awesome look; don't know why they don't come from Porsche with rings. My new Cayenne has gauge rings. Anyone know if the rings are available for the Cayman?
Quick install trick.
AVOID
using the glue. A previous thread recommended using Fun-Tac. Install is much easier and cleaner. Also, if you want to remove them they will come right off.
