Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had my engine replaced at 23,000 with a remanufactured one.
Leading evidence: 'Replace engine' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace engine' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I also followed the break-in procedure, and at 2,000 miles, changed the oil.

Suggestion
I recently had a new remanufactured installed and the service manager said change the oil as normal when I asked him about it.

Suggestion
I figure that changing the oil earlier for the first time can't hurt anything except the wallet.

Suggestion
Probably true, but I always change the oil early on a new car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just finished putting 1200 miles on my new engine. Going to car control clinic tomorrow (perfect timing). Did break in right too: minimal number of cold starts, vary RPMs, never over 4200. Pushed it today to just a bit over 5K RPM.
The question is... should i do an oil change on monday? I am pretty much set on doing an oil change, unless there is a very good reason not to?
I am a bit OCD, so i am imagining all kinds of tiny metal shavings swimming around in the oil as a side-affect of the new engine break-in.
I had my engine replaced at 23,000 with a remanufactured one. I also followed the break-in procedure, and at 2,000 miles, changed the oil.
I sent my oil to Blackstone Labs for an analysis and they reported a little higher than normal amounts of extra various metals and other products. However, all amounts were normal for a new engine.
I figure that changing the oil earlier for the first time can't hurt anything except the wallet.
It won't hurt anything to change it early and it could help get rid of the metal shavings, so there is really no down side of changing it early, except the relatively minor cost (compared to a new engine) of the oil & filter.
Current thinking is that that machining today is so much more accurate that an early oil change is not needed. Probably true, but I always change the oil early on a new car. It only hurts the pocketbook.
After that, I follow the recommended change schedule as I see no advantage to more frequent changes with synthetics.
I dont think youll find any reason not to change your oil early. I recently had a new remanufactured installed and the service manager said change the oil as normal when I asked him about it. I went ahead and change mine at 1000 miles and found a few to inch very fine metal shavings so I would advise you to change yours, it couldnt hurt.
I do think you will find many varying opinions on how you should break-in your engine. Check out the replays when I posted the question.
