Are you guys really taking your car up to 100mph ten times on the highway because I'm pretty sure my ticket would come on run #5 or so.

With my luck, I'd get a second ticket on run #9.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New Pagid sports on. When the roads are ok I need to bed them in. Never having done this before I have a question for all of you that sound like you do it all the time. The Pagid web site about bedding: http://www.braketechnology.com/brakepadbedding.html says basically (allow me to simplify here) up to TEN runs to 100mph (+/-) with each braking to 50mph and also some cleanup braking in between. You certainly can not do this on a track unless you own it and not many people live where this is practicle so whats up? Are you guys really taking your car up to 100mph ten times on the highway because I'm pretty sure my ticket would come on run #5 or so. With my luck, I'd get a second ticket on run #9. I just find it hard to believe very many people are able to follow the bedding in procedure EXACTLY. I can see a spirited effort but c'mon.... So I assume they work well without all the trying to get put in jail runs but some feedback on experiances would be helpful.

POST 2Original post

With Pagid Sports you should be able to bed them in like stock pads...10 stops from 35-40 mph. Remember to keep constant pedal pressure on them and try not to press hard to a complete stop, lift off around 5 mph. They should get grabbier with each press of the brake pedal and feel pretty consistant by the 10th one. With race pads like Pagid Orange or Porsche Sport pads, 1-2 brisk stops from 130 mph seems to do the trick. For a more street oriented pad, you don't need to be that aggressive. In fact, you can easily over cook them and glaze them over trying to do a harsh break in.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

02 Carrera, I just noticed the Pagid site above has the same procedure for break in on the race pads AND the sport pads. Apparently it is not pad specific but a process that must work for all pads. On that basis and if I may, on grounds do you suggest a different process is ok? I will probably do something similar to what you suggest just to avoid a big time ticket but I'm just wondering what your experiance is with these pads? Do you have them on your car now or in the past? Thanks.
