Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

With my 996 - it is a 99' Carrera 4 loaded with TechArt goodies...the car has probably the most reliable car I have owned to date...but, the fact that I have only put about 4,000 miles in 1 1/2 years has something to do with it.
Leading evidence: 'most reliable car i have owned' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'most reliable car i have owned' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok. I've been a member of this forum for about 1-1/2 years and after seeing recent posts by folks tryin to leave I though I'd post something about my first Pcar experience.
Part of the experience is this forum. It's even more positive than the car itself. There are contributors here that are priceless. Independent of their opinion is the fact that they are genuine. Nowhere is someone welcomed with such applause as a new owner of a 996 (maybe any Pcar for that matter).
I found out all kinds of maintenance information for the do-it-yourselfer. While I have done all kinds of things to other cars I have owned (mostly french things or Jeeps that I still long for but that's another story), having a Pcar brings a little nervousness.
What I have found is that it's (better sit down for this), just another car. Mind you it's the first car that I have owned that each time I get out I can't wait to get back in. I drive it every day; summer, winter, fall and spring.
The appeal of the car is priceless. The interior plastic bits and interior paint.... awful. All you need to do is step up the speed and RPM and all the annoyances go away.
My first rear engine love is an Alpine A110 1300. But it's not available here and I don't have the ability to go import it and recondition one. Second might be an Alpine A610, but my guess is my 996 is a better car.
I found my car with 38K miles after a searching several months. Liked the color, the fact it was CPO and wasn't perfect.
So now I'm hooked. What's my next one? Don't know. I think and hope mine has a long way to go before I feel the need to change.

I think the best part about the car is that you don't mind driving places - "I'll run to the store, Hon!", "I'll drop the kids off", "I'll pick Sally up from the airport."
Thanks for sharing!
Same here, I frequent this board daily and really enjoy learning new things on the 996 as much as driving the car itself. Both complement each other very well. The Renault Alpine cars look amazing, very exotic look, too bad they don't import them here.
Cheers,
Well, I have had mixed results.
1. With my 996 - it is a 99' Carrera 4 loaded with TechArt goodies...the car has probably the most reliable car I have owned to date...but, the fact that I have only put about 4,000 miles in 1 1/2 years has something to do with it. I love the black/black aero kit and all I have to do is add something to fall in lover with her all over again - I have a problem sticking to cars...have owned over 55 cars since I was 16 (I am 32 today). So this car hits the top 5 list of owned for the longest time so far...
2. With the board...75% of my experience has been great...but, the only times that I have felt not welcome is when questioning "Porsche"...some people cannot appreciate cars for what they are and when compared to other cars, no matter what, people begin the attack on other people. Several times I have seen the wild car of "I make more money than you" when all other arguments fall...that is extremely frustrating to me as I simply cannot understand it.
Anywho...
here it is to 996's and the board...
