Naturally the Aero I splitter is the better fit as it's the factory piece for my car but I've also seen threads where people have successfully retro-fitted the Cup II splitter on the early bumper with success and without looking out of place.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at either the Aero I or Aero II cup front splitter for my Aero I car. Naturally the Aero I splitter is the better fit as it's the factory piece for my car but I've also seen threads where people have successfully retro-fitted the Cup II splitter on the early bumper with success and without looking out of place. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with either and or both and how well they work for keeping air out from under the car. The reason I ask is because the Aero I piece is very subtle and I'm curious if it really does nearly as good of a job as the cup spoiler. My main worry with the cup spoiler is tearing it off pulling into my driveway! Aero I splitter: Aero II cup splitter: Aero II Cup Splitter on Aero I bumper Andy

There are actually two different lips for Mk II. 996-505-986-02 $162.45 996-505-986-92 $230.39 The -92 is larger. I think this is sometimes called the GT2 lip. Not sure which one is showing on the silver car.

POST 4Original post

-92 is the STANDARD splitter on the GT3 front. Alot of us over on the GT3 board have replaced it with the RS/CUP splitter (-91) which wraps around the side a bit better. Actually alot better.

POST 5Original post

hey dell... is the GT3 engine THAT much better then the typical ones... i know it is but how much? i need real world experience here....

POST 6Original post

Holy crap is all I can say! Let's just say it feels like I go from a 4-cyl engine to a V12TT. It is that drastic. It has a strong pull ALL the way to redline and the sound of that motor from 6-8K RPM is just absolutely addicting and something everybody needs to hear at least once.

POST 7Original post

what kind of mod will it take to switch out my 3.4L to a GT3 crate? would it be much more expensive then supercharging...?

POST 8Original post

i ask because i have this kid who goes to the local starbucks where i hang out... he has an 99-01 GT3 or at least it looks like one and keeps eying my car... nothing special about it... but just want to really know how much faster and better is his car......? competition thing you know.......EGO is a bad thing to have... but i guess it would be okay if your are the best....

POST 9Original post

You can SC for about $10K. The move to a GT3 motor you will need some serious coin and it will NOT just bolt right up. It would be cheaper to sell you current 996 and then buy a GT3. You can get into a GT3 right now in the mid 70's.

POST 10Original post

wow! what about the 01 models....... how good are those?

POST 11Original post

FYI...he does NOT have a MkI GT3. They were NOT imported to the US. Sounds like he jsut rebadged his 3.4L. Ask him to open up the engine bay

POST 12Original post

cool... then he's a dead man ..... although i think his coupe is still faster then my cab....... gosh darn convertible...... the sun...... you can't live without it....

POST 13Original post

I don't know about that being faster. It is something like a tenth of a second faster 0-60 so nothing that can't be overcome by the BETTER driver. Gotta love the CAB's on a sunny day!

POST 14Original post

you can't beat the cab on a sunny day...... in fact on a sunny day... the only thing that matters is the ride along the beach with the music blasting ....... man i can't wait till summer..... thanks for the info dell... Now i can't get duped by this guy..... until the next one.....

POST 15Original post

summer? anything above 70 degrees and we are cruising! keep us posted about the "poser" GT3.

POST 16Original post

Dell, I thought the -02 was the standard Aero II splitter? If not do you know what it is? These are the three I see listed: 996-505-986-00 (Aero I?) 996-505-986-02-G2X (Aero II?) 996-505-986-92-01C (GT3?) I have not found a listing for a 996-505-986-91 Does that look right?

POST 17Original post

-91 is RS/CUP version of -92 (Aero II) -00 is Aero I -02 I have no idea about. I know it is one of the lips but only the other 3 I have listed I am positive on. FYI..you won't find a listing of 91 since it is a PMNA part and NOT a PCNA part.

POST 18Original post

Thanks. You are now officailly the authority on front lips
