Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Everything should work just fine if you replaced just the switch.

Fuses are ok, no blown bulbs, however, did noticed that when the gong sounds after taking the key out of the switch if I put it back in, the gong still sound but if I wiggle the key the gong stops, take out the key and the car is like before replacing the switch, back to normal.

I'm a heavy set person and had to turn in to a pretzel but, any ways, it seems to be working, however, with the key out of the switch the gong/alrm goes off, like the key is still in the switch when the door is opened, also, the remote won't work and when the door is manually closed the passenger door does not lock, the radio does not turns off when the key is taken out of the switch.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys:
Just replaced the ignition switch. When I try to arm the alrm it does not do it and the alarm light in the dash blrks fast.
Please help.
Hey Brad:
If the ignition lock housing is replaced, would it be neccessary to re-program the key?
Would the old lock barrel work with the new lock housing?
If the key needs to be re-program would there be an extra charge after porchasing the parts from the dealer?
Thanks
Thanks Brad.
Not to play stupid or to be a pain in the b%@t but, with the simptoms I mentioned, do you think the problem would be the lock cilinder, the lock housing or a defective "new" (old type) switch?.
If it is a defective "new" (old type) switch I'd rather replace the lock housing that comes with a new switch.
This has been discussed before. The ignition lock housing is faulty, cylinder is rarely faulty (key works), the electrical portion in the old housing could still be 'good', but it cannot make the proper electrical connections because it does not fit properly into the housing. Why cause yourself problems, fix it correctly the first time, before you have a problem with not being able to access your vehicle at all.
I did the audi rear piece on my Boxster myself. When 996 failed I had indy do it. He charged my 3 hours labor but still just replaced the back pice and not the whole switch. Are you sure you have all the connections correct, and no blown fuses?
OK,
Fuses are ok, no blown bulbs, however, did noticed that when the gong sounds after taking the key out of the switch if I put it back in, the gong still sound but if I wiggle the key the gong stops, take out the key and the car is like before replacing the switch, back to normal. Don't think the switch at the end of the lock housing is connected the wrong way because there is no way to connect it wrong, the contacts and plastic prongs can only be connected one way.
I'm concern because what about if I purchase the lock housing and the problem persist? Guess just waisted the money.
