Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use input' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check sides of the vlave stem and there will be' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Check the sides of the vlave stem and there will be on one side the width of the wheel and the other side the offset.

I'd check the slots to see if the Dampers are in the same spot on both sides.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Glad you were able to get the problem identified and are in the process of getting it resolved.
The good news is the GT2 tire/wheel package fits the C4S. The bad news is that the front tires have less than 5 mm clearance on one side and more than 15 mm clearance on the other.
Does anyone know how the front end can be more than 10mm askew?
I only ask because I'd like my next wheel size to be 245/40 front and 325/30 rear. But I can't if the front end stays as is.
Is the non-uniformity uniform around the circumfrence of the wheel/tire? I guess what I'm asking is if it's possible that the alignment is out of wack on one side (e.g. your camber is way off) so that part of the tire is sticking very far in or very far out?
You very well might have two DIFFERENT front wheels. Check the sides of the vlave stem and there will be on one side the width of the wheel and the other side the offset. Post back, that might very well be your problem. Also, what are the tires EXACT sizes? Are they both the EXACT same on both wheels?
Dell is correct - check the stamped size as in this rear wheel example here:
Wheel width and offset are both shown.
No-size in this location would indicate a non-Porsche wheel.
Differing sizes from side to side would indicate different wheels as Dell says.
Pip pip my good fellows, the fronts are both stamped 8.5 and 40, the rears are both stamped 12 and 45. The problem isn't the wheel or the camber, the problem seems to be that the car is not centered over the front wheels. Is this an alignment adjustment? Could it be a frame adjustment?
Jolly good to hear from those over the pond.
Now that is puzzling. Is there a spacer installed on one of the hubs and not the other? I guess we need more background about your car. What did you ohave before these wheels? Where those previous wheels "centered"???
Bugger me! I used to be... a long time ago.
I miss sausage rolls... also cheese & onion pasties. I still get HP fruity sauce shipped to me.
Where you guys from?
I'm not sure how I missed that Dell was a brit.

Stamford, Lincolnshire - near the home of Melton Mowbray Pork Pies!
I found a shop in San Diego that sells HP, Curry Sauces, Marmite and real Sausage Rolls!
Costs more than a class A drug habit, but it's real food!
And they have Dandelion & Burdock!
I haven't messed with the stock stuff too much but I'm pretty sure you can move the top of the dampers in short slots in the fender and you can move the bottom of the upright with an eccentric. So, essentially you can move the whole suspension in and out slightly without changing camber. If I'm right then that's probably your problem.
Otherwise, you can also move a fender in and out by at least 10mm. If you had body work done it could be that.
I'd check the slots to see if the Dampers are in the same spot on both sides.
Jim
(Apologies for the O/T diversion.)
Ahh, you see Dell is not a real Brit (not that I am anymore)... although name should have given it away for us.
I was born and raised in Barnsley, S. Yorkshire. I also love D&B. I can empathize on the food habit - you should see the amount we spend on importing food each year (typically for Christmas)... I've had bills from the Porsche dealer that cost less.
PA doens't have a good (oxymoron) British food store, so we import food from an internet supplier.
Jim, how about jacking up the front end, removing both wheels, and measuring the distance from the centerline on the underside to each hub/disc to confirm suspension centering?
Anything else has too many variables in play, especially if there is any chance of past bodywork on the car.
Chris.
It might be a little hard to come up with a good centerpoint. There are plastic covers and stuff in the way. I think I'd start by checking to see if the dampers are in the same spot in the slots on both sides. That would be very easy.
Jim
you can easily make your own sausage rolls - just get some frozen puff pastry sheets, get some uk style sausages, wrap them up, cut some diagonal stripes with a knife on the top and brush with milk.
Put in the oven on gas mark 8 (about 375) and bake for 40 mins
job done
I from the shires - St albans.... relocated to nashville for a woman...
I think the more important bit of info is to see if the OP posts back what he had before. He started a thread recently that he traded his C4S wheels for the GT2 wheels. It would be nice to know if they fir properly before he removed them. If so, the culprit might very well be a defective (mismarked offset) wheel or the spacer issue, etc.
Answering these questions plus pics would be great to help understand and see what you are explanning. But right now, we are just guessing trying to troubleshoot this one.
Yeah, my wife is good to me and does that occuasionally. I am a lucky man.
As for the relo... me too... finished my education, here a week later and married shortly after that. Life is good.
I'm wrong. I looked and there isn't an eccentric on the bottom in front. Just in back. Dell, it's a long shot that a factory GT2 wheel would be wrong. Assuming it isn't a spacer I would guess body work.
You Brits should just make a trip up to Canada. Maltesers instead of Whoppers. HP Sauce, fresh Spotted Dick, Marks & Spencer stores. Heck, I'm wearing a pair of socks from Harrods right now!
Verify measurement from center of car at frontend to inside of hub center left to right or just remove wheels and measure how far hub is in from each fender lip.
Sorry Guys, I've been working with the dealership and a body shop to resolve this. I've used the input from JimB. The dealership actually owes me an alignment for aligning the car the day BEFORE I put on the new tires, but what I want sounds too extensive for them. So I'm checking with Paul at Anderson Behl. They do a lot of Porsche body work and should know whats wrong. I'll update you when I know something.
So, did the previous wheels show this offset center issue?
Did you try and swap the front wheels to see if it was still present on the one side?
These are some of the questions that people have asked to help clear up some of the speculation that has taken place here. If you prefer not to answer these questions that is your choice.
Question though....why are you working with a body shop?
Not that anyone in their right mind is still reading this thread, but I did find the problem.
It turns out the engine cradle and front right knuckle were damaged. The parts are on order. All will be restored soon.
Glad you were able to get the problem identified and are in the process of getting it resolved.
Make sure you post some pics after all is straightened out. BTW - just in case you are not aware, I head up the "Pic Patrol" so I WILL be watching!
Can't help you there because the last time I looked, mine was not spotted!
