Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was wondering how hard it would be to get rid of the wing on an Aero car, either by trading it, or selling it to buy the stock spoiler?
Or does the stock spoiler come with a motor that the Aero cars don't have?
I like the aero skirts, but am not a fan of the fancy wing!
You could easily sell it and trade for the stock setup. I suspect you will find a lot of interest.
FYI, Porsche recommends the full kit. However, at US HWY speeds the car will be fine without it. In fact Porsche sold the 40th anniversary with the front kit only.
Not selling anything yet! I was just thinking if I saw a nice car and it had the aero wing, if getting rid of it was simple, I wouldn't rule out that car, etc.
FWIW
I think the Aero wing is worth about $2,000. Thats for a used Porsche one. The replicas arent worth much. I think you can find 996 decklids on Ebay for $100 or maybe budget $300 for one with the correct color paint.
Yeah, I figured it was time I standardized on the same name in all the forums I frequent. Not sure why I didn't register under this name in the first place.
Some people who know me from other forums are now seeing me here and consequently I'm having different people refer to me with different names in the same thread and that can get confusing for those who do not know me in multiple places.
Simplicity is always good.
i agree .... i really don't like the wing... only the ones on the rs..... the other one looks like someone tried to do something fancy on the butt of our car....
Yeah, that's why I use my name! Pretty hard to forget your own name!
What year is your car, BTW? Did you put on those headlight surrounds?? Looks awesome!
Glad that you like them.
Yeah, I'm always asked about the headlights. I didn't do them though. They were done by the previous owner, so I cannot tell you the brand or anything like that... only that I've seen that Techart and Gemballa sell the same style... you just have them painted to match and then stick them in place.
Hello Gentlemen, good question AndyK, I am going to purchase a 99 996 with the factory aero kit and am looking to replace the wing with a different one. I was also wondering how much the factory wing is worh too. I was wanting to get the wing that Techart has but they are asking $3500 for theirs. (Ouch)
I was wondering what else is out there and available.
19yrrash.... all you need to do is pick up an EXCELLENCE mag or any of the porsche mag and you'll see what's out there... .lots of different ones to choose....
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I don't believe Porsche recommends the removal of the rear wing unless the rest of the areo kit is removed as well. I believe it has to do with high speed stability.
See above photo below - no wing and it's stable.
It's a no-no to have the rear wing without the front bumper, but the rest of the kit is fine at legal driving speeds. See the link I posted in message #4.
Above legal highway speeds that you would want to consider having the wing, or lowering your suspension.
I wondered how long it would take you to pipe up with that tune.
Hey, you aleady have my most recent pictures - the car hasn't been out of the garage since the aero kit was installed.
I'm hoping that the snow and salt are going to clear in the next couple of weeks so that I can get driving the car again.
