Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Changing the fluid is like any other car except when it comes time to put the fluid back in. You have to have a pump that measures how much fluid you are putting back in through the drain plug, there isnt a dipstick tube to do a gravity refill. I believe it is 3.5 liters for the change?
Tranny temp has to be maintained also or the readings will not be accurate.
Refilling is similar to a manual where you fill until it runs out of the drain plug while maintaining a given tranny temp range.
A Porsche tech could probably give a better description but this is the summary of how it is done, may be worth taking to the dealer.
Bernard,
I'd be very, very leary of trying this as a DIY. I know from experience that one MUST know exactly what they are doing or very bad things could happen. I had an independent without the pst2 tester do my tranny service. They assured me they knew and understood the factory procedure. The car did not shift as well afterwards, but I chalked it up to me being **** and not paying much attention to the tranny before the service. Well, the shifting eventually got worse, so I took it back with instructions to verify the level. They said it was "minimally low" and that they added just a tad to top it up. Well, the shifting got worse, and about 3 days later I took it elsewhere (a different indepedent that has the porsche tester, which tells you if the ATF is at the correct temp), and found it to be a quart low (which is a lot for these transmissions). Sadly, by this time the tranny was cooked. A used unit from a wrecker solved the problem, but not without a nice repair bill. You can diy this project, and there are some good instructions on renntech (including how to make your own pump from home depot parts), but imo it is not worth the risk of getting it wrong! Good luck.
