Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took it to the dealer and the shaft sealing ring was replaced (997-101-212-00).

Suggestion
I would bet on either the RMS or the IMS but if you have extended coverage have them fix both and replace your clutch while they are in there, note IMHO.
Leading evidence: 'Replace i took it' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'drop or two everytime i drive it' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace clutch while they are in there, note imho' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I don't get alot of leak, probably a drop or two everytime I drive it.

The warranty expired Oct 06, hope the leak is caused by dry seal/storage.....and will go away.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.
Replace clutch while they are in there, note imho

I know "better" is not a very descriptive word, but it is hard to remember how much deeper and louder one set of mufflers is versus the second set versus the third set.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My car was on a lift today to get the PSE-modded OE 3.6L exhaust. While up, I check out what was leaking oil. I don't get alot of leak, probably a drop or two everytime I drive it. VERY little...just a drop or two.
Opinions? Comments? (By the way, I'm definitely bringing the car in, but I just thought I'd share and maybe others will have some input.)
Picture is a little hard to tell where the leak is at, but I'm sure someone will have the answer your looking for.
Is it in the middle of the engine?
Is the drops on the floor centered under the car?
I would not stress about it.
The question I have for you is how does the 3.6 mod sound? Plan on doing this next weekend
Yeah that pic is the mating of the engine and transmission. The drops are so few that I'm not really stressing about it.
The 3.6L mod sounds GREAT. It's not a loud one but it definitely doesn't drone on the freeway. After the install, I revved the car inside the muffler shop and it sounded wild in the high RPMs.
I like the fact that it doesn't drone and it reminds you of its prescence when you get on it.
Sweet.... Can't wait until I get mine done
If it turns out to be RMS and if you don't have CPO I would wait until you can't take seeing oil on the ground.
When I bought mine the dealer replaced the RMS
$2100 that I didn't have to pay and also had them do the flywheel and clutch. That part sucked ($2000)
I did mine yesterday! I had done the 3.4L mod about a year ago and, while they were louder than my stock 3.6L mufflers, I was a little disappointed that thay were not louder and deeper sounding.
Ray S. was kind wnough to give me his stock 3.6L mufflers for free so I had the muffler shop mod them (cost $60). They sound deeper and louder than the 3.4L PSE "hack."
While I have not heard my stock mufflers for about a year, I'll try to give a relative comparison between the two PSE "hacks" and REAL PSE mufflers which I heard in person about 4 months ago.
Stock mufflers to 3.4L PSE "hack" = 30% to 35% better.
Stock mufflers to 3.6L PSE "hack" = 75% to 80% better.
Stock mufflers to real PSE = 100% better.
I know "better" is not a very descriptive word, but it is hard to remember how much deeper and louder one set of mufflers is versus the second set versus the third set. Hope this helps.
I bought extended warranty so I'm not really concerned. I put a nice outdoor boot mat (with edge lips) underneath the engine and that helps with the oil not marking on the ground. That's how I know it's only a drop or two everytime I drive it. It's not really a big deal, it seems. Oil level has been fine. I don't want to have it done yet since the car only has 12k miles and the clutch still feels fine.
Arnee - I am not sure if that is an RMS leak, but the location of the leak would suggest that it is RMS. There have been a few threads here that talk about low milage cars and RMS. A few guys have a theory that cars that aren't drived very often may increase the chances for an RMS leak because the seal dries out a little. There is no scientific data to support that theory, since Porsche does not release any info concerning RMS leaks. Since you car is an '02 and only 12K miles, that could be the issue. Just a thought.
I would bet on either the RMS or the IMS but if you have extended coverage have them fix both and replace your clutch while they are in there, note IMHO.
I experienced oil leak in same area, not a lot, just couple of drops last July. I took it to the dealer and the shaft sealing ring was replaced (997-101-212-00). I put in 4 to 5K on it. It was fine before I put it in storage. The car was parked for 4 mth and I needed to move the car and did some work in the garage. I warmed up the car before I moved it. Two weeks later, I realized oil leak again in the same area as shown on ArneeA's picture. The warranty expired Oct 06, hope the leak is caused by dry seal/storage.....and will go away.
BTW, what is RMS?
