Turned out that the hose was fine, but the plastic housing was busted (this is the housing below and to the left of the throttle body, more or less below the idle speed adjustment valve).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I spotted a busted coolant hose and decided to tackle it tonight. Turned out that the hose was fine, but the plastic housing was busted (this is the housing below and to the left of the throttle body, more or less below the idle speed adjustment valve). The fitting is secured to the engine between two pulleys. The top clamp is the normal "spring type clamp," but the lower clamp is gold-colored band that forms a triangle at one end. It looks as if a special tool is needed to insert into the triangle. Anyone have any thoughts on how to best remove this clamp? Do I need a special tool? thanks guys. Scott.

POST 2Original post

YOU NEED A PAIR OF SIDE CUTTERS, CUT IT OFF AND REPLACE IT WITH A WORM GEAR CLAMP

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. That's what I thought after looking at it a bit. I actually managed to spread it open enough to slide it off by spreading needle nose plier inside the triangle part. Replaced it with a screw clamp. Thanks again, at least now I know nothing's going to blow with a screw clamp. Scott.
