Has anybody changed their R&P on their gearbox for better acceleration/performance...

In a perfect world (**read unlimited budget**) you'd change both he R&P and the gearing.

It will be running GTS4 with NASA and POC as we adopted (read copied) the NASA GTS rules for our previously complicated GT rules.

We are also inviting BMW's and Ferrari's to run with us in the GTS classes.

Pete my wrench and racing partner put a Albins (Australia) 4.00:1 R &P in his 02' box and it made a noticable difference. They're not cheap in the States, California Mortorsports is the US distributor and they just raised the price from $2,900. to $3,400. The Canadian distributor is:

Depends on what the application is. I decided to regear the box rather than change out the R&P. Then you have the gears EXACTLY where you want them rather than just changing the slope of ALL the gears at the same ratio. You'll still have a crappy 4th-6th gear spread and 1st gear will become useless. Seriously, how many times do you hit 195mph???

Yeah, GTS has it wide open for that. GTS is such a fun class, we love it so much here in Texas that we are building a second and third team car to compete in GTS !
I'm still wondering the trans heat differences between our cars. We don't have any heat issues. How does your tranny oil hold up ? Smell ? Any issues with it ? How often do you change it ? I have built 2 996 GTS cars that have ran the last 4-5 years in GTS, 1 3.4, 1 3.6, without any trany heat issues. Am I just lucky or am I doing something different ?
The 2 trans problems we had were a PP coming apart and an axle that got pushed thru the trans case due to a wall that was parked to close to track out.
won't the increased slope give you much better acceleration in every gear? i mean 4-6 on the stock box is whatever.... but 4-6 with a modified r&p is better no?
just wondering if there is any downside for street use as well... I'm thinking you'll be a gear higher than you are at normal speeds so no extra gas burned .... I do about 20 DE's per year...
