Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anybody have one and is it worth it? I like playing with toys Also how does it work if you don't have to do any type of install expect plug it in?

POST 2Original post

I've got one and it works great. I got got for Christmas a few years ago, so I can't say if it's worth it or not. It's fun to play around w/on different cars. My brother has a Diablo and a 996 TT and we play around w/it. The G-force graphs can be dangerous on the street, very distracting. It will give peaks though. For timed runs you don't need to input the vehicle weight. To measure horsepower you do, but I think that part is kind of silly. You also have to input the "horsepower factor" (drivetrain loss, and drag). To do this you use a correction factor between the manufacturer's rated hp and the G-timer's calculated peak wheel hp. It also will give you a measurement of vertical axis (acceleration and braking G-forces). It can read each separately and also calculate a "vector sum" between cornering and acceleration/braking. It's very accurate in acceleration times, within a tenth of a second. The trap speed is off compared to what you get at the track because it gives you your final speed once a 1/4 mile is reached, where at the track they give you a median over the final stretch. This was on the first day I messed around with it in the P-car. A smooth launch yielded the best results.

POST 3Original post

I've used the Gtech Pro RR, similar in concept. What I've concluded is that if you simply want acceleration and peak lateral readings, the Gtimer GT1 is sufficient, and worth $100. Also, if that's what you want it for setup is pretty easy. I got a GT1 for my brother and he likes it. If you want something for autocross and the like, the GT2 or Gtech Pro might be worthwhile, but honestly I kind of doubt it. You'd have to do your analysis pretty quickly for it to be worthwhile. They have a few more features, store more runs, etc, but if it's just a toy I'd go with the GT1. If you want it for the track (HPDE or racing) then you really need a GPS-based system, which is my plan for this upcoming season. I just didn't get enough useful and usable info from the Gtech.
