This is not a probability of success.

As I was leaving, I spotted a very clean looking Targa across the street at a Mercedes dealer.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried to do this earlier but the crazy forum wouldn't let me post a picture for some reason...
Anyhoo, I bought a 2003 Targa in October and love it. I'm not one to believe in things like fate but finding this car was blind luck. I had picked out an '02 Targa at Westmont Porsche in Chicago and was prepared to buy. I showed up with a check made out to the dealer ready to close the deal. Somehow, they were able to photograph the car to hide every scratch, ding, dent and scuff that was present (and there were a lot). It was as if the previous owner had a Great Dane riding shotgun with him for 4 years. The interior was torn up. Clear coat was missing off the bumper. There was a huge hole in the leather dash from a radar detector. So...
As I was leaving, I spotted a very clean looking Targa across the street at a Mercedes dealer. It was a year newer and still under waranty. I went for a drive and it was perfect. Then I spent the next 5 hours haggling. I got them to knock $7k off the original price and I drove it home.
Here are the pics...
Nice to meet you all,
Grant
very nice and even better negotiating skills! that must have taken at least 3 walk outs!
call me naive (assuming it's real), but how'd you get away with that license plate? esp in wholesome-er minnesota (from looks of plate).
Congrats and Welcome! Nice looking Targa. Nice purchase story. You sound like me, love to haggle and when you do your home work, it can really pay off. Thanks for sharing the pics!
(note to self: Remove Hamilton from the "Newbie - No Pics" list)
Careful with the rear plate - people don't like us Porsche owners much to start with, but that plate may just set them off! There's a bright side - your state wouldn't let you get a "F---IT" plate. Now, that would **** people off big time.
Sweet car. It's pretty neat how you snagged it ... across the street from the original car by fate followed by a neat discount!
If you're thinkings "MODS" ....
1) Clear side market lights (cheap mod!)
2) C4S front bumper
.... gives the car a more aggressive look.
3) Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) /fabspeed/ self made PSE mod from 3.6 L cans !!
I'd recommend you don't do ANY mods to the car for a few weeks till you find out whats the best thing for you ....
Most importantly - enjoy the ride !
