Now if I could afford to go full Carbon maybe I would make a change but I will never go aluminum.

Anyone have a set sitting around for sale or know of a dismantler that might have a set?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know where I can find wood shifter **** and parking brake handles for a 996? I know about Carnewal, MACarbon, Bumper Plugs, etc. who sell CF and painted pieces. I can't seem to find any wood units. Anyone have a set sitting around for sale or know of a dismantler that might have a set? Thanks! Carmen 03 TT - X50 89 951

POST 3Original post

why would you ever want to put that in your car when there is aluminium or carbon

POST 4Original post

I'm with Johannes... aluminum would be my first choice. But if you really want to get the wood interior pieces then check out the following link: http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...ry_Code=996exc I have ordered parts from them before. They're pretty good.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I am just old school. I don't like aluminum with grey interior. CF is OK to contrast the grey but not my first choice. The interior is graphite grey with a midnight blue lower center console. I wanted just the 2 pieces in wood not any other wood. Not looking to make a BMW. I have one of those. Thanks for the links.

POST 6Original post

Please post pictures when you're done. I have a Graphite Gray interior on my Ocean Blue Metallic cab and would like to see how your mods turn out. I am considering getting a painted center console but I can't decide between an aluminum-look or color-matched (Ocean Blue) center console.

POST 7Original post

might want to consider alcantara in gray with red stitching since your car is red

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I posted a picture above. Looking at the dark burl, I don't think it would look good with grey. Maybe the light burl would look better. I need a picture of that. My old 951 in my icon is red but this is for my 03 TT which is midnight blue. The suggestion of alcantara with body color stitching sounds pretty cool though, since it is in the middle of the blue console. Thanks for that idea!

POST 10Original post

I can't imagine any wood tone going well with a grey interior...But, to each his own.

POST 11Original post

If you go wood, be sure to keep the stock items for resale tw

POST 12Original post

Wow great idea! Where can you get that done? I saw the steering wheel on the GT3 and thought what a cool wheel but I didn't think I could get that for other parts.

POST 13Original post

You can get the GT3 accessories from carnewal (Gert); downside: it's an EU supplier in the NL, so the current EUR/USD rate pushes price for US customers up: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm

POST 15Original post

Check out this pic : dark wood looks great on a tan interior : https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...hmentid=162503

POST 16Original post

I have a similar interior savannah beige with wood and I love it. Others like aluminum or carbon, I like the carbon but the aluminum is too cold for my taste but to each their own.

POST 17Original post

No offense, but there's a reason that wood is hard to find - there's not a market for it, as most people will think it does not look good in this car. I love wood in luxury cars but I can't picture it in a 996.

POST 18Original post

True, but I guess I just never changed. Had it in my first car a Triumph and then in my Alpha, had it added to my old Corvette, and now to my current car the 996 C4 Cab. Like everything it is not to everyones taste, or maybe most peoples taste, but I love it. Now if I could afford to go full Carbon maybe I would make a change but I will never go aluminum. Aluminum reminds too much of industry kitchen or the cockpit of my aircraft which is produced by the lowest bidder for the US Government. No offense to those who love aluminum, I respect your taste.

POST 19Original post

I've got a wood and alum. mix...I love it. Best picture I could come up with.

POST 20Original post

Here's light burl in w/Savanna in my car. Wood is the historically correct accent in a 911. The series A featured a wood steering wheel and teak across the dash. And of course the CGT features a wood gear shifter in homage to the 917. The first racing Porsche to claim outright victory at Le Mans.

POST 21Original post

Rob I love that look! You have the same interior as mine except I have partial wood on the center console.

POST 23Original post

My car came with that trim. I assumed it was just an option.

POST 24Original post

The wood trim was an option. Congrats on your post count

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Glad to see some wood owners show up with some pictures. Both interiors are very nice and for us old folks (me at least) it does pay homage to older loves sold long ago. This all started for me when I saw a light burl hand brake handle for sale on e-bay. It looked good, but I still have my doubts about light burl installed in the grey interior. No doubt wood looks great with Savanna. Love the Recaro seats too! Carmen 03 TT X50 (Midnight Blue/Grey) 00 BMW 540i Sport (Savanna with lots of wood) 89 951 (Red/Black) gone to good home
