Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They will be getting replaced though by spring with ones that match the wheels.
Leading evidence: 'Replace though by spring' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'little excessive' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean likes of the 996' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I think it takes away from the clean lines of the 996.

Suggestion
996 with decals can look good, but it's the full race set, rather than the Carrera decal
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was just curious what people thought about the side scripting on a base 996. I've always like the look, and to me it makes it look retro. Any comments would be great. They will be getting replaced though by spring with ones that match the wheels. I have 5 pix under "Carrera Decals" folder. Thanks for any opinions good or bad.

How about on a midnight blue car that looks black in poor lighting?
I do agree that you can't beat white. It's perfect. Thanks everyone so far on the feedback.
I am kind of split on it...it looks OK in some pics..and then looks cheesy in others.
I guess in something like this it is better to err on the safe side and NOT get them....
That was my biggest worry. Thanks.
lol... I see it as not being rice because I was trying to make it look retro, but I have a feeling that if people don't understand that concept, it will look "tacky" or "riced." I'm not saying you don't get that, people that aren't into Porsche's might not get it. I still appreciate the honesty though.
have to agree, doesn't work for me. I love the styling of the 996 - I see it as sophisticated and classy (yes, I know i'm biased
) but that is a bit tacky for me......
Grant -- I was going to pan you before i saw the photos, but it is a lot more subtle than I expected. I would not put it on mine, but I like it and can see the retro feel that you describe. Don't be afraid to keep it if you like! JK
Interesting idea to put the Carrera decal on a 996 but for me it's an accessory of the 70s and doesn't match the design of the 90s. Originally the color of the decal was meant to be reflected in other accessory - wheels, parts of the bumpers, ... just as on below pics of the classy 911 from the 70s.
I like it on the older Porsches, but not a 996 - that base Carrera with 17" rims and the decals reminds me of GM putting decals on a crappy car in hopes that people will think it's "sporty".
I doubt that. Someone else said that if it says GT3 RS, that's fine, but Carrera isn't. Does anyone have an opinion as to why it can but on my but a Carrera can't? Or is it the HP that makes the difference as to stickers on a car? I do appreciate all feedback, but LOOKS wise, what is different from a GT3 RS decal? Maybe I should take them off. Thanks guys.
Here is your answer. (BTW, don't take them off if you like them. You will never get unanimity on anything on this forum - except maybe about the type of oil to use -)
If you like the stickers, keep em. If you want the other guys to like your stickers, hmmm. Did you have the stickers made at a vinly shop or did you buy ready to apply? I would think you could put anything on the side of the car using the same script. maybe "m3 killa"! Green sticker on my black sheep might be cool.
So that at night (in multi-class races) the drivers in front can tell how fast the cars behind may be approaching. In ALMS for example the fastest cars have white lights.
Very mature, thanks for the feedback. In case you forgot to read my other posts, I was trying to give the car a retro style "look." As far as HP, I haven't really noticed much, down low, but it does seem to pull a little harder higher up, around 5000 rpm it screams to 7000. It actually sounds a bit louder and more aggressive. It's subtle, but I like it. I heard the GT3 RS ones are right around 25 HP, I'm not sure if that's at the wheels, but I'll let you know.
I loved the look of
Dave_D
's white 996 Cab with black Carrera script, when I saw it last September at the Silver State Classic. There are some pics in
this thread.
OTOH, I don't think it will work so well on a dark car.
Like AsianImage, I'm a bit split. I think it looks good, but it might be misconstrued as ricer. It might look good on this 997, however (sorry, it's a phone pic)!
BTW, I like that your photo site has PCA Rally pix. I'm the rally chairman of our local (NOR).
It really comes down to if YOU like it or not. I was going to say don't do it...but then I realized you already had. Just my opinion, but I think it looks awful. Sorry.....
