Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Lastly, i'm still getting used to stop-and-go traffic and seeing my engine temp rise to 104 degrees celsuis.
after years of only BMW's, finally went for it and got a 911. 2000 911 C2, black on black, purchased CPO with 24K miles. It was originally intended to be the "second" car, but quickly replaced the daily driver. in just over 2 months, i put on 5k miles and have loved every minute of it. Originally, thought it would be too cramped and rough for a DD, but the miles just fly by. the perfect car? quite possibly. my bmw's feel a bit uninspired these days.
the car is stock except i had the OEM SSK installed (absolutely necessary as stock shifter was absolutely terrible), clear-side markers installed, V1 hardwired, and new part number '01' coolant cap swapped.
some funny observations: (1) hands down, the best and most efficient windshield wipers i've ever experienced-- like suction on the windshield; (2) others have mentioned how smooth the drivetrain is, and while i concur, the entire experience is also strangely mechanical in feel-- as far as the interaction b/w the shifter and throttle response. strangely, mechanically smooth. my bmw's are buttery smooth almost like a sewing machine. (3) the electronic speed readout is incredibly efficient-- just a quick glance tells you all. in my other cars, i find myself hunting. (4) i have the std seats, and they are so deceivingly supportive and comfortable. excellent. Lastly, i'm still getting used to stop-and-go traffic and seeing my engine temp rise to 104 degrees celsuis. hopefully, it's true it won't hurt the car.
i know it's terrible, but i'm already thinking about upgrading to a newer MY 3.6 liter car-- for the increased punch and well, just a newer year. C4S seriously on my mind, but dunno know if i want awd. or even a base 997C2.
here are my pics. sorry for bad quality. the last is of my engine bay after getting it detailed. immaculate.

Just another! Hey, what do you mean by that? Yeah, I have a black on black too. While the colors may be a little boring (unless you are trying to clean it), they are all special.
Anyway, great ride, and you have the DD part right too.
hehe, thanks. of course, was being a bit sarcastic. although black wasn't my first choice, but now it's up there. suprisingly, i think it makes the car a bit more discrete-- as i think the car attracts too much attention as it is.
She looks great. Love the Black. Enjoy her. I hope it isn't your first black car...you'll soon know why after a little while. When she is clean, it will be the best car on the road!
thanks guys! and yep, my first black car. i'm usually pretty lazy about washing my cars (prolly even more now since these rims look pretty susceptible to rashing in, dare i say, auto washes), so we'll see how that goes.
btw, great forum. real sense of community and genuine concern to help fellow members. plus, none of that trash talking you can see on other boards.
Curious: anyone in CT w/ recommendations for good drives? i recently discovered Routes 37 and 39 around the Candlewood Lake area. perhaps a group run sometime?
Black on black here as well. I only regret my obsessive compulsive disorder in trying to eliminate swirl marks. When it's clean and shiny, I don't think anything looks better. Welcome, and enjoy!
ps - nice writeup
Nice machine. that engine detail is perfect. What did that cost if I may ask. Regarding CT drives I drove 300 miles in two days of poking around from Candelwood north to above Kent and east a ways too. I was looking for property and drove a bunch of great roads out there. My personal favorite part of CT, you can almost pic a road off the map.
Congrats.
thanks. the detailing was complimentary from the dealer, so i have no idea. good question, though, for future reference. i'll post or PM you if i found out. sounds like a lot of fun-- poking around like that in and about Candlewood Lake. i'm new to the area, so i've never ventured far off from there. but the twisties around there are pretty damn near perfect-- and, as far as i can tell, not too many cops either. see you around!
