Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My beloved Porshce has been sold. I already miss it. I don't know if I'll be on this forum much anymore, so I should take this opportunity to thank all of the people that have been so much help over the past four years. You guys have made the great experience of Porsche ownership even better. That was my first Porsche, but probably not my last. Now I'm stuck with just the Ariel Atom for fun driving. I guess I'll survive! I've read a lot of posts about how bad the market is, and there were comments about how my car was overpriced at $40K, like in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/283840-selling-my-996-a.html I had a lot of interest, including 3 appointments last weekend. But I only needed to show it once, because the first guy to see it bought it - for full price. Apparently, this car WAS worth $40K afterall, if not more! IMHO, the buyer got a hellofa car, at a fair price. The buyer was a former 993 owner who understood the options and appreciated my car's condition. Despite what the naysayers say, the market for used 996's isn't totally dried up. I wonder how many of them are potential buyers, attempting to influence the market with their doom & gloom stories and "appraisals".

POST 2Original post

Congrats, no takers on mine yet. How do you like the atom? Do you street it or just a track toy?

POST 3Original post

Don't leave us yet - please share some action photos of you and the Atom, as well as some of your experiences. That thing must be a blast to drive. Also, nice work on selling the 996 - it looks like the buyer now has a beautiful car on his hands.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mtb - I use it as much as I can, street toy, track toy, etc toy. Black Cab - your wish...

POST 5Original post

I've read a lot of posts about how bad the market is, and there were comments about how my car was overpriced at $40K, like in this thread: I reread the thread and while there were a couple of doubters most everyone was supportive. Dell even helped correct your ad. As for selling price, a lot depends on the area in which you live. In my neck of the woods the entire car market including Porsches isn't doing at all well. I have a friend who sells Audis and Porsches, and they just aren't moving.

POST 6Original post

Wow, what an interesting car (Ariel Atom). I am ignorant about this car. Tell sus more! Gary

POST 7Original post

congrats on the sale. i guess you already know but be careful in the atom. the car doesn't have any crumble zone. it's all tubes and roll bars. how do you get insurance on an atom btw?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gary, If you want to know more about the Atom, take a few minutes and watch this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=52rrpuvawTs There's arguments in both directions about the safety of the Atom, but either way I'll take your advice, be careful, and hopefully never test its crash worthiness. That's not to say I'm ignorant to the importance of safety. I believe that in most crashes, the Atom is safer than most other cars, because you're surrounded by a massive roll cage. Getting insurance isn't as easy as most cars, but its out there, and I have full coverage.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

By the way, I'm considering selling the Atom if the price is right. I don't mean to turn this into a "for sale" thread, but if you want to know more you can see it here: http://forum.atomclub.com/index.php/...0.new.html#new

POST 12Original post

Interesting comments about Audis not moving...I've been looking at an A4 2.0T as a daily driver and am shocked as to how rarely I see one here in Dallas. It seems like 95% of the A4's I do see are the older 1.8Ts. The reviews have been good but they just don't seem to be moving. May be a good time with end of model year coming up....
