The easiest fix I have found is to just fill the void of the worn out rubber bushings with black silly-cone.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did a search and found a lot of threads about the horns. But the problem is no one ever posts back the fix. I never had an airbag wheel apart. Any info, tips and tricks would be great. What is the issue with this button that makes the horn blow when you stop? And what is the DIY fix? Thanks!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Call me slow, I don't get it

POST 5Original post

I figured it was a bit subtle... glad you saw the origin !! couldnt resist "I also learned the alarm and door lock horn is a different horn than the "*******" horn.."

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes it is. The ******* horns are under the front bumper cover. The stay the f^&ck out horn is back by the battery.

POST 9Original post

Kyle, Here is a link to a DIY on Renntech that shows how to fix the steering wheel horn connection. You must sign up to access the link. Also if you make a small, one time contribution, it will give you access to more info. Sensitive Horn Button DIY Here is how to remove the airbag from the steering wheel: Most important **** DO NOT leave the keys in the ignition**** If you do, it will cause the airbag to deploy. 1. disconnect battery on car - wait 30-45 minutes for the firing capacitors to discharge 2. Remove the 4 torx (t25?) screws on rear of the steering wheel. 3. Remove airbag and place in a safe place away from the car and not near anything that can generate a charge. Wrap it up in plastic/non-conducting material. Do the DIY from Renntech Reinstall the airbag.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the Renntech link. It appears there is a plate that the airbag is mounted to. The plate is held in place with 4 screws that are inside rubber bushings. The bushings wear out and the weight of the airbag while braking will push fwd on the plate blowing the horn. The easiest fix I have found is to just fill the void of the worn out rubber bushings with black silly-cone. Ill report back on how well it works.

POST 11Original post

Razor blade and rubber hose could work. Just have the options of thick and thin hose depending on which type would fit your needs.
