I usually drive the Carrera a couple of times a week and my wife's Boxster about once a month just to make sure it's running ok.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last week it rained like crazy i NY. But i just had to drive the p-car. From Wayne to NYC Ferry, then walk with an umbrella and briefcase(heavy) from the parking lot to the terminal in poring rain wait 10 minutes for the next ferry, then take bus to my office. Same thing on my way back that day. My normanl commute when i drive directly into the building i work in is about 1hr. Ferry about 1:45. Just added 1.5 hrs and all inconviniences that come with it to spend some quality time with my baby. The reason i don't drive the p-car in directly is because it will get beaten up and scratched in NYC garages. Once i was in the p-car

POST 2Original post

I drive into the city daily so I don't need much of an excuse.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Where do you park it? i don't trust them in any of the garages i parked. Is there a self park somewhere near 39/madison or a good garage?

POST 4Original post

I put something like 12k miles on the car in the first 3-4 months. And I think I was out of town for almost three weeks... I've slowed it down a bit since then. Or at least I've tried - I do a lot of driving for work. It gets expensive!!

POST 5Original post

20K a year here in NYC... NY Garages suck, but hell it depreciates either way

POST 6Original post

If you can do a visual inspection of some garages, the city ain't bad, but it sure don't hurt to grease the attendant when you pick up your car. Mind you, I have had 2 incidents with my car in garages so far....fortunately, they were just to the bumper, but still, it does tempt fate a little to much, eh? then again, we are talking about cars here, and these cars were MEANT to be driven.

POST 7Original post

I live in Hotlanta, and my commute on the highway takes about 15 minutes. Many days, I triple my commute time by scorching the backroads. On weekends, I am quick to volunteer for errands and the route is never the quickest one. My wife is on to me, but she is smart enough to know the driving -- coupled with satifying the cro-magnon hunter-gatherer instinct -- makes me happy, and that is always to her benefit. -- M

POST 8Original post

I now find myself going to the store for the wife Try to drive it every chance I get. That being when its not in the shop

POST 9Original post

My love is still new and hot...Like when you first fall in love! (What a Feeling!) Full of desire to drive the car, only had it for about 2 months now. Psst...sometimes I would go out in the garage at 3am just before bed, to admire the sexy curves of the car!

POST 10Original post

One of my offices is 136 Madison which is between 32nd and 33rd street and there is a garage on 31st but that's too far for you. Don't know of one close to you but if you do find one and like it, keep going to the same one. I tip the guys 2 bucks a day and I know them by name. I'm parking at rockefeller center now and the guys are great. There's plenty of Porsches and Ferraris which is a good sign, and they know me by now so I haven't had any issues. Rob

POST 11Original post

Unfortunately most of my customer base cannot afford to drive Porsches so as not to create any ill feelings, I usually drive my Jeep or a Harley to work. It's always a toss up between one of my scooters and the Carrera when going for a joy ride, as the bikes are faster but the Porsche is more comfortable. I usually drive the Carrera a couple of times a week and my wife's Boxster about once a month just to make sure it's running ok. Everytime I drive the Carrera or Boxster for that matter, it's amost as exciting as the first time I ever drove either, had one 3 years and the other 4. I don't think a brand new any type Porsche would increase my driving pleasure at all, but a GT3 sounds awfully nice to pound around in every once in a while.

POST 12Original post

I spend my weekends at our country place. The roads around here are awesome and virtually unpoliced, but to get into our place and to get to where I keep my horse, I have to drive on a lot of gravel roads. Aside from chips, I've had flats from the sharp stones they surface with now. Because of all that, I don't take the Porsche on weekends. It's a really painful dilemma...

POST 13Original post

I usually don't take it to work. It's a weekend car for me, but my 2yr old loves to be driven to daycare in it. In the morning she says "Daddy, take the porsche car to work, yes, yes". When I do take it to work, which is about 1 minute from my house, I take the long, long way home. I make the 1 minute commute about 20 mintues. Same goes for when I go to the gym. Sometimes the three mintue ride home takes me about an hour.

POST 14Original post

I don't commute anymore, so anyday that I drive the P-car is an artificial reason to drive it. Usually in the afternoon around 2ish I head to some local twisty roads and do my therapy loop. Almost always volunteer to pick something up for the wife on the way home to make the trip 'productive'. I seldom go more than 2-3 days without driving it somewhere.

POST 15Original post

PJ, I work in Sterling occasionally - care to share the location of these twisty roads? Justin
