Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can you lose any lbs by replacing the stock suspension? How abut losing a full aerokit? Also, what are the lightest 18" wheels that will fit a 99 or 02? What would aftermarket wheel weight savings be over the various oem wheels? thanks-

POST 2Original post

Yes but the area's your looking to loose weight in are getting rather expensive. I'm sure an aftermarket coilover might save you a few pounds but it can't be that much. Full Aero: While it may seem heavy the rear wing is 'glass replacing a metal lid, sides can't be more than a few pounds total, and neither can the front...I'm guessing again <15 lbs by ditching the whole kit. Wheels are however a good investment. A nice set of forged 1 piece Champions or Kenisis wheels are sure to shed some weight and it's good weight since it's rotational. Also mind tire weight...for instance I weighed the Bridgestone S03's that are on my M3 and the 275/30/19' rears weight 4 pounds more each than PS2's weigh. I guess it's really in how much you want to spend. If you're trying to make it as light as possible for a particular race class and money's no object there's some weight to be taken out of the car...But for a street car I'd think that you'll get very little return on your money for the above mentioned weight loss.
