I bent the + & - terminal bars towards each other and used the two existing holes to mount the cartridge terminals.

Although festoon style LED’s exist there are none “skinny” enough that I could find that would fit in this location. After a bit of searching I went with cartridge style LED bulbs and cartridge terminals designed for circuit boards. I bent the + & - terminal bars towards each other and used the two existing holes to mount the cartridge terminals. I did have to slide the LED’s all the way to the back of the cartridge terminals and work the metal (very malleable so was easy to do) around the ends of the LED’s since they interfered when reinstalling the unit. The pictures don’t show the mounted LED’s in their correct position in the terminals as I forgot to retake the picture the way it is currently configured. It is definitely a whiter and brighter light than the old lighting.
i bought both items off amazon for under $15 (4 cartridge style LED’s and 50 cartridge terminals.
Afterthoughts I am adding:
So three things to think of when doing this is First, when bending the terminal bars, bend them at a 90* right at the inner hole. There is some reflective material that sits right below where the position of the end of the terminal bars will be bent so be careful as it may be conductive and should not touch it. If you bend the terminal bars cleanly there should be no concern of touching IMO. Second, the cartridge terminal is made to hold the cartridge LED further away from its base. Like I said above the vanity assembly will not reassemble with the LED's in that position so I had to further press the LED's to the bottom of the terminals and wrap the contact ends of the terminal around the end of the LED (not pictured) which was easy as the metal is soft. Third, before you put it all back together make sure they light up. If not they are in backwards. you can test this by jumping the ground to the terminal bar before assembly to see if they both light up.
Oh, and treat the one terminal bar (positive) as always hot when working on this! Unless you want to disconnect the battery. I didn't since while the vanity assembly is apart the ground is disconnected.

So this is where I found where I could not reassemble after I took this picture. As I stated I seated the LED’s further into the terminal and molded the terminal around the end of the contacts of the LED to allow for reassembly.
Use at night will surprise someone not use to the brightness.
